Glad you are O.K.

Magnificent Bike! Wish I could wear out knee pucks like you!

Sending you a PM.

w00t! Congrats!
Right? You built quite the flying machine.
Take it with small steps, keep it shiny. Remember, safety 3rd!

Just noticed - No heel guards?

No I am having a hard time tracking down the Corse heal guards.

I have a v4r for racing as well. One thing that I really dislike is the TC. It will save you but upsets the bike a lot. Initially I though it was my lack of ability but last Monday a friend took it out for some laps and he said the exact same thing. He was a professional racer until 3 years ago so I value his opinion highly. We started at TC level 2 and he immediately came in that the TC was really bad, we lowered it to level 1. That improved things but it's still far from perfect. When it intervenes it makes the back of the back very loose and wobly (not sure what the correct English term is) and it doesn't give a lot of confidence.

Did you experienced the same issue and got it fixed somehow? Several brand offer a race electronic package/upgrade that has TC dedicated for race/slick usage. Ducati seem to have a corse department but I cannot find anything online.

I find the TC on level 1 is probably more intrusive than I'd ideally like, but it's very smooth and doesn't upset the bike when it kicks in.
What setting is your DWC?

I would look into changing DWC and DSC to see if anything feels different. DWC is more intrusive than I'd like even at low settings, and DSC could be playing with the rear when it breaks loose. A lot of weird interactions I thought were TC in the past were actually DWC being weird. Especially on a track like the Ridge that has a lot of elevation and gradient changes.

100% change DWC to level 2 or lower. I did exactly the same last week. Before, it really felt like there was very poor throttle connection, and fairly inconsistent drive. Went to DWC2 and the bike was transformed. It's still inconsistent, but you don't interact with it as much.

EBC is personal, I find level 3 (least engine braking) makes the bike feel a lot smoother.

I am just at the very beginning of sorting out the electronics... Last weeknd the big thing was turning up DWC from 1 to 2. I was raising the front way too much

Thanks for the reactions, I will try to play with DWC tomorrow and see what happens. Don't want to hijack this thread any further.

Ducati would do well to put on training sessions for these electronics, for most people that are not going to explore the limits, but for those that want to the info is vague. Apparently my model has the evo software with slide control on DTC 1 and 2 but can i find any documentation or confirmation that its actually installed? All I know is that the slides on corner exit make me nervous because I dont know whether to lean on the electronics, if they are actually working or if its my throttle skills. The solution is to turn all the .... off and rely on my ability, but then again thats a very arrogant attitude given that even the best rely on the software to keep the rubber side down.

I read that whole DSC thing from Ducati and still have no ....... idea what it does, exactly how it intervenes and what the different levels do.

It's actually pretty simple. The IMU in the bike measures the yaw axis of the bike. Slide control at level 2 allows the rear of the bike to kick out under throttle (corner exit) X amount of degrees before it intervenes. Basically, it helps prevent a high-side situation wherein the rear kicks out too far. DSC 1 allows the rear to kick out farther/more aggressively.

DSC 2 basically makes you feel like Rossi when you learn to trust it. I'm a mediocre rider at best, but with DSC on I can basically just whack the throttle open on corner exit and let the electronics bust the sickest powerslides. I don't normally do it because I fear it will create a bad habit, but near the end of the day when I'm just having fun, it's a neat feature.

I'm not sure how you're not sure if it's installed. DSC has been on V4s since the beginning, my 2018 was the first one on the streets of the west coast and it came with DSC that works great.

Really - it’s that good?

Really - it’s that good?

To me it is. I imagine skilled riders would prefer to do it themselves, but I have slight nerve damage from life onboard a submarine so it's difficult for me to maintain great control of the throttle. Kicks the rear out just enough to make things exciting and does it pretty damn smoothly.

I've had a similar experience. It seems to work pretty well. I've not gone as far as whacking the throttle open without measure, however, I've definitely kicked the rear out more than I was used to on corner exits going into straights. It feels controlled, and I've been able to get it predictable, which was surprising to me. It hasn't felt like and oh .... moment.
This is super new stuff to me. My last track bikes had no traction control at all so I was always pretty delicate on the throttle leaned. Actually really obsessed with standing up before throttling hard. Now I give it the beans leaned for trajectory (a new technique to me - blowing my mind) as well as corner exits.
