I read that whole DSC thing from Ducati and still have no ....... idea what it does, exactly how it intervenes and what the different levels do.

It's actually pretty simple. The IMU in the bike measures the yaw axis of the bike. Slide control at level 2 allows the rear of the bike to kick out under throttle (corner exit) X amount of degrees before it intervenes. Basically, it helps prevent a high-side situation wherein the rear kicks out too far. DSC 1 allows the rear to kick out farther/more aggressively.

DSC 2 basically makes you feel like Rossi when you learn to trust it. I'm a mediocre rider at best, but with DSC on I can basically just whack the throttle open on corner exit and let the electronics bust the sickest powerslides. I don't normally do it because I fear it will create a bad habit, but near the end of the day when I'm just having fun, it's a neat feature.

Ducati would do well to put on training sessions for these electronics, for most people that are not going to explore the limits, but for those that want to the info is vague. Apparently my model has the evo software with slide control on DTC 1 and 2 but can i find any documentation or confirmation that its actually installed? All I know is that the slides on corner exit make me nervous because I dont know whether to lean on the electronics, if they are actually working or if its my throttle skills. The solution is to turn all the .... off and rely on my ability, but then again thats a very arrogant attitude given that even the best rely on the software to keep the rubber side down.

I'm not sure how you're not sure if it's installed. DSC has been on V4s since the beginning, my 2018 was the first one on the streets of the west coast and it came with DSC that works great.

Really - it’s that good?

I've had a similar experience. It seems to work pretty well. I've not gone as far as whacking the throttle open without measure, however, I've definitely kicked the rear out more than I was used to on corner exits going into straights. It feels controlled, and I've been able to get it predictable, which was surprising to me. It hasn't felt like and oh .... moment.
This is super new stuff to me. My last track bikes had no traction control at all so I was always pretty delicate on the throttle leaned. Actually really obsessed with standing up before throttling hard. Now I give it the beans leaned for trajectory (a new technique to me - blowing my mind) as well as corner exits.
