I just posted this because there were a couple of riders that said they actually got burned. At the right tempature, and depending on what they were wearing, and the length of time, it is possible. But any bike it's possible. And these numbers are actually on most water heaters as well.
Someone just posted in Frosty's thread that the only reason you are getting burned is because you are a squid and not wearing proper attire and that the bike is not all that hot.
Lol, saw that and noted to it appropriatley.
I think we've been down this road before. It depends how you use the bike and how often. I put more miles on my bikes than my truck (had my truck 8 years and it has 50k miles) and they are my primary means of transportation. Sometimes I am going somewhere where I can't wear proper gear and carry regular clothes with me, change, go to a meeting or whatever, and then reverse the change and ride back across town. Sometimes I need to wear jeans and choose to do so even when I don't have to if I am commuting in stop and go traffic in 90F+ degree weather. Under those circumstances, this bike is really hot. None of my other bikes have been or are this hot. I can ride the SF all day in jeans and it won't burn you, but this one can burn you in about 20-30 minutes easy. You don't even have to be in stop and go traffic to get burned either. I consistently see temps in the 200-220 range riding backroads in 2nd and 3rd gear if it's hot outside and if you pinch the tank/frame how you are supposed to you can't hang on long when the bike is in that temp range.
Hugepiece could you post pics of all the heat shields you put on? Who makes them and how much did it set you back?
Did I hear someone say whining? I have owned RF600 07, GSX-r 600, 600RR, R1, 696, 1100s, zx10R, 990 SDR, 990 SD, 690 Duke R, MV 990R, 1100evo, SF1098, Er6n and none and I mean none of these bikes run nearly as hot as the Pani on your thighs (the heat redirection sucks big time). I wore full RS taichi leathers. No one here complaining about the heat is whining the damn bike runs too hot period. I don't have to be breaking the law to enjoy a bike. I can't coast in traffic, i cant just slap on some jeans and a jacket and go riding. Guys its unbearable in slow traffic on a hot day PERIOD! Lets face it. Amazing ride with with brilliant tech but how could ducati miss this? I rode deals gap this weekend with Randy and Lyle from bellissimoto and they all agreed that the Pani runs too hot. We swapped bikes on our ride there and within a few miles Randy wanted his 999R back, he just could not deal with it any longer (and randy is not one that whines). A friend of a friend suffered burns through his jeans while riding and i don't care for those on here saying wear your leathers. No i wont wear leather pants riding to work, I just want to enjoy the and ride my beautiful 15k plus toy.
While at the gap i met a nice guy with an 1199r and his had the heat shield and it looked fine: just fine. How well it works I don't know but I love this bike so much I am willing to try anything that would make our relationship stronger so my order for all heat shields goes in today. Oh did I mention the brakes: Simply AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just me 2 cents
On that note, I know it's a bit off topic but does anyone feel the brake lever is a bit squishy? I mean it's quite deceptive because the brakes come on strong despite the squishyness, but still.....squishy?? Anyone else?
Nope. No squishiness.
But then I'm pretty religious about changing fluid/bleeding brakes and clutch about once every month or so.

Guys,
Is that something the dealers charge for?
What is the part number?
I asked my dealer and he said that other then the recall for the 2012, nothing is known as free. I wanted to know the part number and call Ducati.
