Superleggera Front Cowl

Design

Finally, Project 1201 reveals its true identity: the 1199 Superleggera.

Its components, incredible as they may be on their own, become something even greater under the Superleggera's cohesive vision - to exceed every limit of light weight and performance.

The 1199 Superleggera's form expresses this goal perfectly. Sleek and aggressive, it is based on the award-winning design of other Ducati Superbikes but features a modified front cowl shape for increased aerodynamic performance at high speeds. Fashioned entirely in carbon fibre, the bodywork wraps tautly around the 1199 Superleggera's muscular interior and is finished in unmistakable Corse Red to announce the performance within.

The end result is simply the most impressive Ducati ever offered. Fully street-legal, it features ABS, mirrors, lights, and long standard maintenance intervals; while being as light as a full World Superbike and making comparable power. An engineering dream made real, the 1199 Superleggera sets new limits of motorcycle construction, paving the way for the entire Superbike lineup in Ducati's never-ending quest to advance performance.

INCLUDED: Superleggera TRACK KIT

Racing kit

Included with each 1199 Superleggera is a "track kit" to adapt the bike completely to closed-circuit use.
The kit is composed of pieces which, when mounted, add to the bike an additional 5 horsepower, and shed an additional 2.5Kg. It is the finishing touch, to unleash every last bit of the 1199 Superleggera's incredible performance.

Kit composition:
Racing exhaust
Racing windshield
Machined mirror block-off plates
License plate holder removal plug
Sidestand removal kit
Connectors
Also included:
Front paddock stand
Rear paddock stand
Paddock bike cover

Merged several threads to this ..trying to keep all the Superleggera threads together...

I've been waiting to mention this and it was addressed with the race exhaust.
As light and everything this bike is, it still has an emissions controlling exhaust system. I've been wondering if after you purchase this $65k machine what a performance exhaust would set you back. Looks like you get one with the bike. EXCELLENT!
:)

I see Ducati are choosing to go the "power exceeds 200hp route" ..... Gives then some wiggle room...:)

Isn't dry weight of Standard 1199 164Kg (361.5LBS)??? So weight saving is around 20lbs... ??? Subtract the 4 lbs saved by complete termi so now its 16lbs... Hmmmmm

Did I not read somewhere it was going to be 40lbs lighter??

Yes, the weight savings of 26.5 lbs (32 lbs with their track kit) is not as substantial as what was reported. For $65k I would want a -40 lb., +20 HP enhancement in street trim, which doesn't appear to be the case. Very neat bike regardless, just not quite what I was expecting.

I received my invitation this morning, and logged in to see the bike.

Ducati did a great job with the video presentation, and the details.

I'm happy with my "R", so I doubt I go for it. There just isn't enough to sway me.

I can't wait to see it in person regardless.

It is an Akra full system

Looks like a stock in house system from Ducati on there now, and I'm willing to bet the racing system will be the full Termi. Look at the differences between the system on the SL and the Akra, too many differences with heat shields, outlets and rivets are the biggest that stand out.

That and the weight differences. The Akra system is stated as 4.8Kg/10.6lb lighter whereas the Termi is 2Kg/4.4lb lighter. So the stock aluminum cans from the Base/S/R were replaced with Ti with the race system being Termi?
