Ducati 1199 Panigale R Superleggera. An ultra-exclusive version of the Ducati 1199 Panigale R, the Superleggera edition is exactly what its Italian name suggests, a super-light version of the Panigale R.
With the Panigale R already the lightest sport bike to ever come from Ducati, the Panigale R Superleggera goes even further, employing titanium, carbon fiber, and magnesium throughout the machine to drop its curb weight by an additional 40 lbs. Ducati isn't stopping there though.

I think for the weight savings of 40 lbs most people on this planet would be better served my getting a membership to the gym, not spending $65K so you can brag about your bike being lighter. :D

So if you have that much money to blow....

the panigale sl or the new Honda race replica?

Good point and don't forget to take a healthy .... in the morning. :D
Then again, if someone worked hard all their life and wants to reward themselves with something that stokes their passion....go for it.

Be prepared for the big dissapointment. The R model was supposed to be the world beater and isn't. This new bike will be cool and exclusive but it's not going to flip flop anything and for a fraction of cost or upgrade the BMW and Aprilia will still be quicker around a track. Say what you will...sit back and watch.

Listen I would really like to have one, as all of us would, (I may get one). However, what this bike does for me at the end of the day, is make me treat my R more like a bike than some limited, top spec bike...lol.

Psychologically, now that my R is a "Base" model bike I will treat it more like a track whore and ride it as such...lol.

Maybe I will dump 15k into my R and turn it into a WSBK replica.

All I know is I want to thank Ducati for raising the bar and making me feel okay about spending insane amounts of money on bikes.

It says "OVER 250 HP" "¦.. exactly. Like 260 HP.

"Over 250" is going to be extremely optimistic for the LCR Honda.

Honda's Repsol Team website lists the RC213V at over 228 HP, while Yamaha's official racing website lists YZR-M1 at over 236. As you know HP is only part of the equation in creating a competitive racebike but considering how these bikes fair against the competition, it would be foolish to think the the LCR, or any other MotoGP bike, is putting out 20-35 more horsepower than them.

BTW, Ducati lists the Desmo GP13 at over 235 HP.

+1 - exactly.

Actually the R was never suppose to be the world beater. It was just another model they announced that they happened to slap the "R" onto. Maybe it was an audi mistake, maybe it was a marketing move - who knows. . But everyone pretty much stated this wasn't an "R" like previous models. You can even read the comments on this forum regarding the "R" when it was released - it was a better bike, but not like an R from previous generations. ..

You sound like a real blast at parties.

Have a little optimism, Ducati now has access to VAG's $80 billion war chest. But in the end, no one will know either way until November.

It's got nothin to do with being a blast at a party...lol..but thanks. It's speakin in terms of the truth. Do you think this 65k bike is going to lay waste to the Aprilia RSV4 Factory or BMW HP4? The Pani...period... was supposed to raise the bar to another level and it hasn't...in any of the models and has fallen short. It's got nothing to do with negativity..I love Ducati, but I can call a spade a spade..a rarity on the forum.

Guess it all depends on in what context you are talking. My 1199S is the best bike I have owned....for me the average joe shmo. I have had a ton of other bikes and the pani is the best handling and feels faster (well maybe not quite as fast as my s1000) and looks better than any other bike I have ridden. So for me Ducati succeeded and made something really special. Kinda sucks to not see it doing well in WSBK, but what do I care really It's the perfect bike for me and I am not on their level. I could have the best bike ever made and those guys would be lapping me like I was standing still. So I do think the pani raised the bar for what, me the consumer, wants.

What would happen if I consider modding my HP4 with around $30k??? Engine, electronics, suspension……. Hmmmmmmm.

Or the other road: What happens when I complete my 1199RS project for LESS than $65k, and exceed the HP, and come in lighter than this bike? Maybe I will build 10 units. LOL

That's the thing though, you can't call a spade a spade if you don't have all the information, because then you're just talking out your ass.

I am well aware the HP4 is the better bike when compared to the 1199, but to call the 1199SL a big disappointment before it is even revealed is being unfair.

The HP4 being better than the 1199 is completely subjective. Having ridden both extensively before purchasing( I already own an RSV4 Factory), I find they are both excellent with different characteristics. My biggest problem with the HP4 was that it is too much like a Japanese literbike. I am one who is willing to pay the extra money for something truly "exotic" like the Panigale. The BMW is very nice, just too much like everything else. And for the love of god it is ugly.

have a friend that did engine mods to the hp4 and its making 220 rwhp.....ill get the dyno sheet from him and upload it.....he spent alot of money but no where near 65k

you'd have a heavily modded but still butt ugly bmw! :D
