Dammit, Ducati is turning into an Apple. No sooner than you buy an S, the really cool stuff comes out. I regret buying my S last year now. Especially since you can buy an R that already comes with the $4k exhaust and extra carbon bits.

This bike will be very unique and I highly suspect will be better than the Desmo. Congrats to those that have been offered such a machine.

The real question is how many of you truly unique people will let us common folk take your SL for a quick spin??? :)

Received offer today. I don't see any indication of actual price yet though unless I am missing something. Find marketing interesting.

Dealers are giving names and Ducati is offering to extend to 3 friends. This will increase demand so they may meet their 500 at higher price.

If this is the case then actual price point for offer may not be set yet?

I don't know about others, however I am no unique in any way. I just think that the dealer may think that I have deeper pockets. If they only knew?

Eventhough the dealer can refer upto 3 people the preference goes by the following first..

1. Desmosedici RR owners

2. 1098R owners

3. 1199R owners

If the above totals 500 then even if people who don't have any of the above get nominated, they are not getting the bike.

Only if there are still spare numbers out there after the above have been cleared, then they will see if they can allocate those to other buyers.

Seeing the interest in this bike so far I think this bike will be the talk of the EICMA show by a landslide and demand may pick up dramatically after that..

It will be a privilege to own and ride one of these.. am hoping I can do so.

Ok.... May be I am the first and only one to say it..but its just a bike... The hype is a little excessive... no???

i would love to ride and own one. but 65k is unproportional for my terms.

to quote my wife: "don't even think about it" :D :D :D

screw the weight loss, just put a turbo on it... LOL

The hype maybe excessive but if the bike lives up to the hype then its not a bad thing in the end.. right?

Reminds me of the movie "The Avengers".. the hype for it was insane and when it came out, it just smashed the box office out of the park and it more than lived up to the hype..

The price for the bike maybe the only thing putting people off but for the components that are going on it and seeing the leaked photos, some of it is nothing short of stunning.

If like the Desmo, you end up getting a 3 yr warranty and free servicing for that period (honestly they should for the price ur paying), its something I can't see myself passing up

20% down - $13,000

How long is my money going to tied up ?

Months maybe and I still might not get it...

Kinda kills it for me.

Am I missing something ?

Lol. Ya think? They've got people believing it is a priviledge to pay 70K for a bike:eek:

Anything we own apart from our personal skill and talent is a privilege cos we feel we can afford something and it can be lost at any time..

Personal skill and talent is something that we have acquired/is God given and nobody can take that from us

Dude... You are sold on this bike... we get it...

Ducati certainly has a good marketing department. It does look as if it will be an incredible machine but 65-70k for a street bike is enough to make anyone blink. I don't even want to imagine what the insurance premiums will look like.

Its a non refundable deposit so if you are putting that 13K down u r committed to going all the way and taking delivery of it

I have asked my State Farm insurance agent about this and you will be amazed at how much it is..

I switched over to them from Geico (it takes effect Nov 1) and the premium drops from $1400 with GEICO to $520 with State Farm for a year. I am getting back $1200 from GEICO from cancelling the policy with them.

Out of curiosity I asked the SF guy whom I dealt with on how much would it increase for the Superleggera compared to my R and surprisingly he said it doesn't change one bit..

Its $520 for a year for insuring a Superleggera... I was gobsmacked when I heard it and am sure no one here will believe that :p

Yes, typical Ducati marketing! I realized that again when I watched the Project 1201 video on my invitation I just received :D
