I've been reading and researching a lot since I started shopping Ducati. The first thing I do after I get the bike will be calling BrenTune. I will likely leave the exhaust stock, I suffer from tinnitus from all the loud bad choices I've make in the past. lol. Im glad to hear that the issues can be fixed with a tune. I've had cars dyno-tuned in the past but never a motorcycle. Thank you for sharing this info!!

I came from a 2011 RSV4 Factory aPRC bike (mapped with a slip-on) with a smoth linear perfect power curve. I really liked that bike and I knew that I will get a complete different bike when I putchased my 2014 1199 S. It felt horrible to ride (compared to my RSV4) in the beginning, especially low down and in the midrange. Decided to get that fixed and started to do some research. Got a gret deal on a full termignoni exhaust without upmap which was great becouse I did not wantvtheir upmap. I discussed with a lot of peoples and tuners what would be the best route to go with the software (e.g. Rapidbike, tuneboy, rexxer, woolich racing, T800 upmap and BrenTuning). I decided to go with BrenTuning as I felt that would be the most proper way to change the bikes oem software and easy to go back to oem if needed. For me it was also an benefit to be able to reset service light and read codes etc. I got the handheld with their maps for stock bike as well as for full termi system and tested it out first with stock exhaust (but only a shortmride). I felt a huge increase in bikes rideability low down but still a bit jerky in the midrange. Installed the full termi and changed to termi map, noticed great rideability low down, some power increase in the midrange and top end. I was quite satisfide with the outcome but cold still feel that midrange was a bit jerky in certain situations (riding style and outdoor temperature). A year later I asked for BT latest map (as I knew they have worked with it to further improve it) and got it to test it out ond after that all jerky that could be felt in the midrange is gone.

Thank you for clearing this up for me. Crazy that most of the people selling their bikes have no idea what the bike is equipt with it or what it can do. Ive asked this question and haven't really been given a straight answer so thank you!

All Panigales have traction control. All the 1299 models have wheelie control, ABS, and up/down quickshifter. Some 1199 base models are non-ABS, but I believe all of the "S" models are ABS. The "S" models (both 1199 and 1299) also have electronic suspension which isn't a HUGE deal but I do use it all the time. If I'm just cruising to work over bumpy roads or if it's raining I use "WET" mode and it softens the ride quite a bit. If I feel like riding aggressive I put it into "SPORT". All the compression/rebound settings are adjustable via the dash. Whatever you decide to get beware of bikes close to or over 15,000 miles. 15k service is about $2500 so make sure it's been done or if it hasn't ask the owner to lower the price. Or just wait another year and buy a used V4 and save money for a lawyer :)

I’m in contact with 2 different sellers, a 1199 S and the other is a 1299, which brings me back to my original question.. now I can make a more eDUCATId decision thanks to all of you!!!

BrenTuning provides excellent customer support and will for sure support you. I also have tinnitus since long time and nowadays I usually use earplugs when riding. From the beginning I also planned to keep bike stock except replacing some of the black plastic parts with carbon parts (including an exhaust heat shield). I however learned quite soon that replacing also the exhaust would be a great idea (and I preferred the Termignoni instead of the much loader Akrapovic). Below some points why:
-Stock exhaust is loud (perhaps louder than my RSV4 with AR GP2 slip-on)
-Stock exhaust quality, my right side silencer was leaking somewhere around the heat shield mounting points (black soot leaking out). I have seen other people reporting leakages also.
-Termi full system provided power increase (I don't say that I needed this :)) and produced less heat (this was not an issue).
-Deeper sound but I can't say it was noticeable loader than stock without DB killers installed.
-Full Termi with DB killers installed is quieter than stock exhaust.
-According to me loud noise that causing tinnitus etc. does not come from exhaust noise, that is more an issue of air streams around your helmet.
-I nowadays prefer stock windscreens (or MRA smoked one) that streams air more to your shoulder than to your helmet.

Tinnitus sucks! Sorry to hear you guys suffer as well, although I’m glad someone knows what I’m dealing with. The 24/7 ringing is annoying but the random humming and buzzing sounds like there a Diesel engine running idleing in my driveway while I’m trying to fall asleep.. I had a pipe on my snowmobile for one trip before I took it off and reinstalled the stock exhaust. Guns did the damage for me as well, that and wnd from riding the Harley with no helmet, speed boat with no ear protection. The snowmobile helmets are pretty quiet, can’t have air leaks at temps as low as -30. All great advice guys. I just need to find a bike now. There is a 1299 on EBay with 1000 miles, I’ve been in touch with the owner a couple times, I’m hoping to put together a deal soon.

I understand. I've had low level tinnitus for several years. 18 months ago something happened that made it much worse. Yesterday I was at the ENT for a new unknown issue. Most of the time I can count three different sounds at the same time. Some come and go, some are always there. I fully understand the random humming and buzzing. No lie, at one point I though one sound was the Air Handling unit in my attic. Nope, just my brain screwing with me. BTW, my last boat had twin HP500s!

I had a few tests done a year ago to rule out anything major causing it. Then I just accepted it. ENTs don't even like discussing tinnitus because they know there is generally no cure that they can effect.

Good luck on the search. You sound like the sort of person that gives the bike a good name.

Tinnitus isn't just from loud things. Stress, dehydration, vibration, exertion, mexican food, women, etc. etc. The worst tinnitus I get is from mountain bicycles.

I do wear ear plugs though. Mostly to keep bugs out of my ears.

I'd get the 1199s. Every time that I'm excited about the V4 bike, I can't help but notice.......the 1199 is still the only Ducati out there that looks as good as the 916 ever did. The new bikes just aren't as pretty.
