Alright guys so I got another 1299s and did a solid build that took me 3 months to finish thing is that the bike before I took it apart and did the mods, it was shutting off once shutting off in the middle of an intersection While cars where coming that had me .....*** bricks, once I got all the parts I cracked it open took all panels off everything completelay front nose too, I replaced the oil, along with the rest of the fluids, I even upgraded the hoses with samco sport hoses and used VP racing Stay Frosty fluid “purple” because it once got up to 234F in my garage while idle, with that said upgraded everything from rear sets, filter, full Ti Vendemon Exhaust and flashed it with Boomstune in Houston, oh and removed the stupid charcoal canister.. pluged with with an M6 bolt and put a clamp on the line, the problem is the bike still shuts off even after the re tune and we tuned both cylinder individually and up the RPMS in 1st gear to start in gear smother.

So not sure whats going on it keeps doing it, it happens more when I first start the bike from cold and it sounds like a cylinder hits something and shuts off i dont know, but it also happens when the bike is hot and I been riding in the 90+ weather bike stays around 208F when riding and gets up to 228F at a stand still,, yes even with the upgrades and burping the radiator system.

So what the hell ? lol anyone else have this issue with their 1299s? Does your bike shut off randomly is there a fuse I need to look at any suggestions? Idk what else to do Engine sounds healthy when running oh and I upgraded the battery to the Shorai and yes its the right one. So im not sure what the problem is.

Any Insight would be appreciated, I’ll be posting the build and “How to“ if you guys find it beneficial like for example doing the radiator hoses, there is nothing on the internet on how to do this.

… Lowkey want the V4 or the V4R ‍♂️

Oh yeah and on top of all this it shut off on me this past Saturday and when I pressed and held the starter button the bike through an error message that scared the hell out off me but when I read it It just said DES ERROR! But thats Ducati electronic suspension so whats the deal? It immidiatly went away and I rode the bike it riding fine But still not sure what the hell is up with it, my 959 runs better then my 1299 wtf though I cant ride the 959 since gears 1,2,3 stopped working last weekend LOL

Yes we do my brother, first find out do you have any fault codes, than research map sensor issues on Panigales. This sensor is known to create various issues with bike shutting off, running rough etc. You may not have issues with map sensor but you have to start somewhere, this is all I can suggest with out engine being scanned for codes.

I think I might have the same issue. On a cold start it sounds like the engine hits something and shuts off. It starts right back up, but it has almost shut off on me a couple of times, normally at slow speed and low throttle input. It never did this before this year, and over the winter I did all the maintenance.

Changed all fluids
sprint P08 filter
Added rapidbike module

It happens to me at cold start and at least twice at low throttle input. I kinda feel like it’s a fueling issue, so I’m going to add the rapid bike bypass module to see if that has any effect.

I also have the same temp issue. Although, I swear it didn’t get this hot last year. When I 1st changed out the water wetter for engine ice, I was certain it was running about 5 degrees cooler. But I hadn’t burped the system all the way. Then I free rev it at a light and from that moment on, it ran hotter. I immediately noticed the change in temp. So something tells me it’s running lean. After that, the cold start shut offs started.

So I took my bike to the Ducati Master tech today and plugged the bike in to the Ducati Computer, we checked all kinds of parameters let the bike run and revved it to 7k to generate heat while being hit by the sun at 100F it Did not choke or stalled it is now its staying at optimal engine temp, now that I burp the system a final time, but what the tech computer read is a bunch of old codes in the Memory for when I bought the bike the battery was bad, I put a new shorai I got from @cycler …. Master tech deleted the codes and problem fixed!!! WTF! he turned it off and started the bike and it fired up instantly ran fine didnt stall, so we did some other tweaks on the bike like suspension, unrelated stuff letting it cool down completly so we can do a cold start, so guess what, the thing started asap ! And did not stall until it hit 194F Engine temp it stalled lol so were back to square one, we also think bike running a little lean because of the color of pipes and because it heats up really fast and High it got up to 228F today but its still normal but hot af! Tomorrow morning heading to the tuner shop here in Houston and plug it back in to Dyno computer and check fueling and all that crap. I took off and plugged both O2 sensors on the race exhaust because racebike so the bike has no way in knowing If it needs more fuel, and on top of that The titanium pipes are like a lighter blue which could actually mean its running lean and that could also make the engine hotter, optimal fuel spray helps with keeping engine cool. If you look in the original pic there that’s when my bike was untuned and Ducati computer makes it spray more gas, now it doesn’t have that feature.

also im not sponsored but VP Racing stay frosty fluids have worked the best with my Panigales. This 1299 has been a lot of work to keep it cool But I think we‘re about to find a solution for these little predicaments… if the retune does not work taking back to master tech to reset all parameters, ill ride once again so everything works well again and see how it acts and if the problem is still not solved then ill replace the MAP Sensors. Bike barely hit 9k miles today should be fine This is super annoying.

Now rapid bike tunes for your current conditions everywhere you go! So not sure why it would be running lean it shouldn’t with that, I’d recomend looking into that and making sure your module has no defects then take your bike to a reputable tuner by you or check out vcyclenut or brentune And unlock that beast, your bike will have a new baseline and the rapid bike module to make sure air/fuel is always optimal weather your at sea level or 9k feet in elevation on mountain roads.

anyways you can see a difference on pipes here

Thanks for the response bro definitely working on getting to bottom of this, this is super annoying after such a solid build I just want to ride the bike not take it all back apart, running a few more test tomorrow then we shall see.

Thanks, as you know this is a bit annoying. I’m not sure I’m happy with the rapidbike module. I installed it, but I’ll be damned if I understand it. I’ve never been a piggy back system guy and thought I would try it this time. I also have the blue adaptor and one of the co2 sensors does not read right when I connect the app. I need to investigate that a little more. Perhaps my problem lies somewhere in all that. I don’t know. It ran fine and I went looking for smoother and more and now this. Lol.

Yeah Im not a Big Fan either and also because they put weight back on the bike and im really weird about crap like that with bikes, but I do think the rapid bike module And a proper tune could be killer… im thinking about trying later on on this bike or my 959, just don‘t tune your bike with Rexxer let me save you the time…

Hey. I thought I read that you removed the O2 sensors. If so. I don’t believe the rapidbike will have anywhere to get its readings from therefore it might be causing a lean condition.

DJ yes your right but I have the O2 sensors laying around in the garage so I can always plug them back into race exhaust & make rapid bike work.

95% of the problems on these bikes is faulty wiring harnesses or components gone bad like MAP sensors, etc. The o2 sensors (narrow band) only effective 15% throttle or less. If you unplug one or goes bad will throw a "engine light". You getting any errors on dash? MAP sensor throws same error if goes bad but bike usually still runs.

Upgrade to a V4 or V4R? Either one them is no upgrade actually the problems are worse.

Yeah thats the other thing, their narrow Band O2, wish they where wide band… how can I check if its the map sensors, Ducati computer doesn’t read it, master tech says he can reset all parameters and go from there, but idk how that would work with my tune, like if it would delete it. And ill have to re tune. I almost feel like buying the 2 map sensors and see what happens. No engine lights or codes just one time I started it after it shut off it it shoes DES error and it instanly went away in 2 seconds. We deleted the old errors with Ducati computer on the bike but it still shuts off.

and about V4! No way even for the new ones ? Like 2020-2021+ ??? Thought they worked most issues out, have a guy on facebook he did say his bike overheating in 90+ weather, I thought the cooling system was way better in the V4 but Eh who knows.

Would like to build that thing up and get the multimedia system installed so I can see gps on screen like BMW M1000RR haha which would also be cool to own, I know that thing comes with wideband O2 sensors as well.

Yeah the narrow bands don't do squat. Few of us are running the Zeitronix ZT-3 Widebands and the strain gauge shifter (cordona) in conjunction with the Woolich package. If you do have a bad MAP sensor 99% of the time the "engine light" will show up on the dash.

So ill start up my bike and let it idle while showing dash so you can see what im talking about… will look up those sensors I do have the same Cordona strain Gaurge shifter honestly taught the results would be alot better but meh its slightly smoother, gears 1-2 is ubrupt and 2-3 less ......, 3-4-5-6 smooth. I running woolich tune as well.

Did the widebands help you make more power or is it still 188-192 whp?

Now I’m more annoyed. I finally got home, pulled the bike out to read what’s going on with the O2 sensors. I have a bluebike and when connected one of the lamda sensors registered a very low level and never had any fluctuations like the other.

So I get home, connect the computer with the bluebike, check a few things. Same issue with lamda. Shut it down to come back later, and, now it won’t connect. Neither my computer or phone will connect to it.

The Cordona (Woolich tagged) has been working great not a single issue in the last couple years. I have not had to adjust the up shift delay, up/down shift kill time or the up/down shift voltage within the Woolich software. I ran the Translogic stuff for quite some time before it was ok but performance nothing like a strain gauge unit.

How does the Cordona shifter work for ya ?
