Finally short audio clip after noise killer installation: http://youtu.be/ktXSgjURbGs

Better, it just is too loud w/o killers. But believe me, it won't be mixed with vacuum cleaner by mistake. It still is LOUD.

Changing gear pattern turned out to be more difficult than expected. I bought the wire, but gear lingage was hitting the frame when I turned transmission axle lever 180 degrees. Even when putting sensor rod upsidedown, it was hitting the frame.

Decided to take a slice away from transmission axle lever. About 2mm was enough and transmission pattern is now reversed. Pics:

Done and tested. Remember to put thread lock glue when istalling these.

Did you retain the OEM rearsets?

I am looking to convert mine to GP shift, but I will go with aftermarket rearsets. I would love to be able to find some rearsets that does the "conversion" with the orientation of the arm on the rearset (instead of having to flip the Trans linkage 180deg) so I don't have to mess with sensors or anything.

OEM, but I do have another set of rearsets. It is a factory solution to flip the lever and put 46€ wire in. Just drove 40km, works like a charm.

So with the Robby Moto rearsets you can swap to GP shift while keep the OEM sensors?

In 1299 you can keep OEM sensor in most cases if not all cases. Sensor works 2-way, so no matter of the setup, the most you need is OEM reverse wire costing about 50$. Sensor is the same.

I have had OEM rearsets and flipped lever + reverse wire now. Several trackdays and some 1500km street driving. Works like a charm.

Parts of me are ageing at different rates, my brain is still 18 unfortunately my liver and kidneys appear to be ageing in dog years, they are about 92 now, might have something to do with beer but that theory will probably require more testing.

Cheers

An even older guy

And I'm 53 years old.. At the track, I love to tell the 20 something guys, "I may be old and fat, but I'm still faster than you are!".. :D

Ok I guess I'm the oldest track day dude. I just turned 61 on June 8th. and I ride in expert level. Older but still very quick!

There is a saying. " Old age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill"

We have a local guy called Locke. He's 83 years old and rides a BMW S1000RR and he still does trackdays.. And he rides in the intermediate group.. And he's still mid pack.

When I grow up, I want to be him.. :D

I stand corrected! I would like to meet him someday He is my hero LOL

I just ticked 400 mi..so far very happy. Tried race mode and sport mode in Engine = High config, wow...it's crazy. Have to be on your game in the twisties w/ that setting...even under 6 k RPM.

I do wish we had 4 riding modes though. I'd like 2 Sport modes...one w/Engine = High & Engine = Med. I could make it work by setting up race w/ all the Sport nanny settings and leaving Engine on high...then default it back to regular Race settings if I ever track the thing.

You will eventually get used to it and want it to b more responsive.. It just takes butt time in the seat..!;)

Sport mode is too slow a response for me..

I ride on the street in Race mode..:D Wheelie control turned off. ( I like's to wheelie from time to time ) Engine braking turned off. T/C set at 3 or 4 ABS on 2 and suspension set at harder for the forks and hard for shock.. I have the front sag set at 35 mm and the rear at 31 mm.

I have found this works pretty well on the track also.. (Since the setting is automatically firmed up when the ECU senses that I am braking hard and automatically firms up the compression). This stuff along with the auto blipping downshifts is really spoiling me. :)

That works out well for the street since I an 227lbs in street gear..

It handles firm but handles well and doesn't push the front end at slower speeds either like my previous ZX10R.. This works out well for me and my aggressive riding style ** If I was lighter weight, I would run the forks softer so it would turn in easier on the street at slower speeds.

This bike likes to be ridden hard and fast.. On the street you just cannot really make it happy..LOL

ON the track with Pirelli SC2's I go with firmer settings all around and move the Wheelie control up to 3 or 4.. (You really really need the wheelies control coming out of fast corners when this thing is wound up.. It will pull big wheelies (while still leaned over) and it looks cool but can cause a lot of sphincter tightening moments if you don't expect it LOL
I usually set the Engine braking to level 1 or 2 depending on the track.. The automatic suspension is awesome and I find there is much less compromise overall than when running the manual settings. It will work within the parameters you program in and then fine tune it from there as you ride it.

This is the future.. get used to it..

I am old now but I love the new tech suspension. and all the other do dads they got on this thing.. I'm not stuck in yesterday like a lot of others are,
It really ROCKS! :D

^ I leave DWC on 1 and still get pretty decent wheelies up when I'm playing around.

Just did ~1000km on one run. It aint bad in touring. The screen should be taller. Best average speed was 184kmh. It shows 299 for a while and then only thee lines. I was able to ride full speed more than 15 times and normal cruising speed was 200-220kmh. Perfect bike for high speed touring.

That was on Wednesday&autobahn and now Alpine pass roads. But I have to say that even with killers, Akra is too loud. It gets a lot of attention and also unwanted because of the noice.

Finally it was track time again. I drove first set with street tires early in the morning, when it was still foggy and almost raining. (actual reason for street tires was that I was too lazy to change them)

And that was it, my Contour decided that it is not filming any more. It starts, but cuts down during session and the file is corrupted. 1.49,xx in that first outing. Later on drove 1.44,xx times when SBK class race winner was going 1.39,xx earlier this summer.

I had problems with rear end, I was shredding tires like crazy. When you destroy 3 new Pirellis in one day, it is beginning to be expensive. Ended up softening rear end and stiffening front (also springs). This was helping, but I ran out of time.
