So how do you like the 1299SL RD16rr?

How does it compare to riding the 1199SL?

Haha. I live 1500 k's from my nearest Ducati dealer in Adelaide and as I lodged the warranty claim through them it has to go back to them to be covered. They had the bike for 3 weeks and could not fix the problem so thought someone on here might have had a similar issue.

You can actually take the bike where ever you like . The cooling system is not a complicated thing .
Don't let it get to 120 again you will do a head gasket .

Ya!!! Try tip over bike and fill coolant in same time, tie bike to the sealing who comes out with this .....if u got air in system get yourself snap on or any other good quality air vacuum and refilling tool and problem solved it's not rocket science

D16RR is a pretty harsh bike to ride on the streets so hardly ever ride it anymore. 1299SL is definately a nicer bike to ride and is similar to the 1199 Tricolore (never had a 1199SL) that I had just with more power and angrier. Favorite bike was my BMW HP4 untill I traded it for the HP4 Race. Am I allowed to say that on a Ducati forum? lol.

Hahaha, yeah was wondering how I was going to explain the holes in the ceiling to my wife.

The 1299SL has been great - it’s obviously very light, & immediately noticeable as soon as you hop on and start going thru the gears - it’s just all & more of what you’d expect....Ducati has always done that, they always give you more of what makes them so special to begin with....and the 1299SL is no different

I don’t have an 1199SL...”too glossy”....it gets a 2 SunGlasses rating :cool::cool:

Not everyone has a Snap-On truck in their backyard, let alone be able to afford Snap-Ons brutal price structure

You sound like someone that buys a new suit or helmet "any time they want"

One of the advantages of a TB flash is that you can set the fan to come on when you want. Mine comes on at 103 for the first time after start if it hits that then after that comes on at 90. To be clear I do not own a 1299SL. I have a 2012 1199S.

Hi, I also have TB but did not know you could change the fan start temperature setting. Can you tell me how its is set? I have v6.

Some of the posters here have been on another thread dealing with heat issues and are remiss when it comes to a fix , unless I am mistaken .
There is a fix ,with a secondary manual switch to turn on the fan, when @ a stop > cannot remember the Exact thread >look .
The thread is recent though , it should not be hard to find . It works very well on my bike and I did not expend much energy or money implementing it . Might be worth your time ,really hope it works on your ride .

The only true fix is a bigger radiator.

Sorry I do not know exactly how to do it. When I got my bike tuned by Wayne on the dyno he explained to me that the reason the setting is 103 deg C from factory is that any moisture that has built up in the engine can evaporate out the breathers. So that is why he sets the fan to come on the first time at the OEM setting then you can adjust to what ever you want for any subsequent fan activations.

I recommend you contact Wayne directly by email and ask him. I am sure it is just a menu item. I have not adjusted anything that he has set in the last 4 years. I am sure he will help you.

cheers

PS Good to hear from you.
