Has it been confirmed the R will not have LEDs? Maybe it's just an error on the website?

Yeezus! 7 pages of this BS? Seriously?

If you can afford a $34K bike you can afford to upgrade the ....... headlights to whatever you want. You newbies to the brand obviously don't understand that Ducati's DNA is in racing. The R model has always been the homologation special for Superbike racing (888SP, 996R, 998R, 999R, 1098R, 1198R, 1199R - get it?). So they decided to not include the expensive LED lights on this one because they spent the money on the SL engine parts and kept the bike from being $40,000 like the last 1098R/1198R. You know they're owned by VW Group now, so you can bet there's a Kraut bean counter in the product planning meetings staring everyone down on how to make a bit more money on the bikes instead of just on the t-shirts.

....... poseurs. You are the same people that caused Porsche to make the Cayenne and now the Macan. Oh well, whatever enables the company to survive and thrive and build the real bikes for the real riders.

/Rant

whoa whoa.... calm down. this discussion is over. dont need to call ppl bad names cuz they think different from you.

btw cayenne was the cashcow for porsche and helped them to survive through recessions and spend more money on R&D and come up with nice race cars like gt3rs and etc. without their suv and sedans there wouldnt be enough profit in porsche and 911 alone wouldnt keep them alive in this market. so dont be hating. its all about business.

Why because the headlights then don't match the running lights? Is that it? For ....'s sake.

Yes. It looks like a cheap afterthought for ....'s sake.

I've had both the LED and halogen headlight. There isn't that significant of a weight difference. No where close to what the aftermarket is accomplishing with un-sprung weight on the drive line.

Here's another option...make it an actual option.

i imagine the same is true for the exhaust - we will be getting stainless headers, with Ti tubes and Ti mufflers...not a Full Ti Exhaust System as seems to be alluded to - unless of course your definition of Full Exhaust = everything except headers

not that it matters, we get what we get, and enjoy it anyway :)

Yes, you are right, R has the same exhaus as the Superleggera, with stainless steel headers...

You're the kind of Ducati owner that makes other brand owners think that Ducati owners are superficial d-bags. Why people are surprised when I take my bike to the track, and why they always say "Oh be careful! You don't want to drop that!" I don't care if I drop it. If I drop it doing what the bike is intended to do, so what.

I almost wish Ducati would make their bikes uglier so that the posers would move on to another brand and no one would care if the headlights matched the LED running lights or if the paint needed protection film or debate whether gloss or satin carbon fiber looks better or if actually riding the bike is going to reduce the resale value.

It's a shame because there are plenty of guys who appreciate Ducati's racing heritage and the performance of the bike and are very serious about making it go fast.

Then there's you.

Please, let's not candy coat this and tell us how you really feel...

To each there own... I take mine to the track as much as I can but I do care if I drop it. I understand your view about the racing heritage but if Ducati only catered to you and the racing heritage folks then they wouldn't have the money to continue with that racing heritage and provide the beautiful fast bikes that they do.

I started this thread because i was genuinely confused as to how they would leave an LED headlight off this bike....seeing that people like ghostdog have opened this conversation to some pretty nasty bashing and finger pointing i think ill chime back in

why do you care if people think ducati owners are superficial d bags? most of us are. Ducati exists solely because of said d bags. the one off guy who tracks his 40k dollar ducati because hes good enough to do so is not what has kept this company afloat. its the well off that dont want to ride a ....... sv650 for the same reason they dont want to drive a piece of .... car.

and as for us who arent good enough riders to push these bikes to their limits....who the .... are you to say we dont appreciate ducati's heritage? I've got a ....... ducati logo tattooed to my leg...Ive never owned ANYTHING but a ducati and probably never will. Im also not about to track a bike that would cost 40k to replace if i have an off.

without the posers "your" brand wouldnt exist. and what would they move onto? these machines are the ferrari of motorcycles.

youre just SO ....... COOL that you dont care about carbon bits or making these bikes beautiful....GOD I WISH I WAS AS COOL AS YOU

Well said wallst1199! ^

Thinking with that logic....would it mean all Ferrari and Porche owning self indulgent wieners are posers because they don't track those cars and push them to the limit based on the racing heritage of those brands? Lol... I think not.

you came out too late bro. i was taking bullets for u from these real track warrors lol.

anyways ppl are different and some dont care about led cuz this is race bike but some do care cuz we are the one paying for this. we can complain if we dont like it cuz we are customers. now we can end this thread. lol

Like that has any bearing on anything said in this thread. I didn't realize you own the internet. Thanks for sharing your bandwidth

Jeff...I think that's a little harsh on the OP???

After reading the last few posts segregated into "poseur" and "hard-core track/racer" types, I realized that both camps are simply elitist pig .......s.

The rich guys that want to pose are thereby elitist by default, while the hard-core sport riders that love 2-wheel motosport history and competition are prone to thinking of themselves as "purists", hating on the poseurs who don't share the same "respect" for the brand and sport, thereby also defining themselves as elitist.

We both buy/worship the brand for vastly different reasons but both fit the mold of typical Ducati .........s. Funny that. And like flobrandx somewhat alluded to, Porsche and Ferrari are perfect examples that have both types making up the ranks that sustain each company.
