We should all just rush them and demand answers! Somehow it would turn into a really awkward red room photo I'm sure.

Let me caveat this.

It sounds fairly concrete that the final edition Panigale will be announced at Laguna WSBK.

There is a chance the V4 is held until EICMA, but the intent from Ducati is to race the V4 in WSBK 2018, so timeline is a factor.

Highly likely we will get at least a leak, if not a full announcement, during the Laguna WSBK round, and I may be there so hopefully they've got the new bike(s) there for viewing.

Don't kill the messenger.

I just pee'd a little......

Hmm? I would so much rather have a V4 over an L twin. How much more could it possibly cost? Lol

My dealer said around £35k (GBP) for the R version.......

Yeah probably won't be cheap. Not sure if it's limited like the SL's but it's expensive.

Give it a couple years....everything filters down eventually. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a 1299 Monster R.

keep this in mind the v4 will be 1000 cc not a 1300 based on WSBK rules. so where does that leave the rest of the panigale range? i for one know i will be way faster on the v4 than on the twin.

My money is that they will show the final edition panigale at laguna Seca. The question is, will it be a S or a last ditch R that will be a beast( I wish). There will probably be a hint at the new Superbike. I'll be there also and I'll take plenty of pics.

Google translate: :D

It has long been known that the heir of the Panigale will mount a four-cylinder: the novelty is that the new V4 will be derived directly from the propulsion of the Desmosedici by

At least speaking of Supersportive, the four-cylinder V-V is definitely the engine of the moment. The most popular architecture in MotoGP (Honda, Ducati, Aprilia and KTM prototypes adopt a propulsion of this type) this pattern begins to spread even among the roadside superbike: once there was almost only Honda, with its VFR series, While today there are many builders who think the vampire to equip their own hypersport.

Examples are Aprilia with RSV4 and Tuono, Norton with the newest V4 RR / SS, the same Golden Wing with the RC213V-S (which seems to announce a new, sporty VFR 1000). Not to mention craft projects like that of Ariel Ace, which mounts a four-cylinder V with almond eyes.

For some time now, it is known that Ducati is going to abandon the historic L-bicycling on its own race replica in favor of a V4 that will debut on the heights of today's Panigale: the design of the new four-cylinder has been confirmed some time ago By Claudio Domenicali himself, AD of the home of Borgo Panigale, at the presentation of the official Ducati

The real news about the future supersportive of Bologna, however, has been unveiled by Paolo Ciabatti these days at Speedweek.com's microphones released some really succulent statements. First of all, the sports director of Ducati Corse confirmed that next year the bike that will run in WSBK will still be the Panigale R bicilindrica R: probably in 2019, in fact, that the motorcycle brought to the debut in 2013 by Carlos Checa and Ayrton Badovini will leave space To the new born equipped with the V4.

Moreover, Ciabatti has revealed that the unprecedented four-cylinder will be derived from that used on MotoGP protocols: in particular, the V4 of the Superbike venture will be built on the basis of the Desmosedici GP15, suitably straddled and civilized. "The engine of the GP15, which is currently in use with modifications and upgrades, is a good basis for developing a standard bike. We do not start with a completely new engine, of course. A standard product ... we are working."

A very noble origin, therefore, for the next hypersport of Bologna, which will have a lot in common - even on the propulsive plane - with the D16 races carried by Jorge Lorenzo and Andrea Dovizioso. The same pilot for Forlivese, on the other hand, confirmed in a recent interview with Motoblog, the close kinship between all Desmosedici from the GP15 onwards: a project, the 2015, completely different from the previous and 100% son of Gigi's pencil from Igna, which has been refined and evolved until today's GP17 which now has the two official color charters.

My info is it will be a 40K bike ..

If you pick out the pieces from that article it basically says no V4 in WSBK until possibly 2019 or after. If I'm reading it right maybe along side the twin??......

Also the V4 will be based on the old GP15 Desmosedici. So they've dusted off the old moulds, parts and tooling to shovel out old technology? And it will still be some variant of the Panigale.

I have to say after reading that a) it won't be here as soon as we were expecting or had hoped and b) I'm not impressed if its out dated technology

Mutt while I agree with what you are saying about 2019 I keep hearing that they want to race the v4 in 18 thays why they are running around trying to get this homoglated

Only Ducati knows what's true

2 years isn really old technology. It's going to be based off the 15 motor with changes. No different than the 17 MotoGP engine based off the previous years learnings. It's unrealistic to expect an engine based off this years MotoGP bike. The MotoGP engine has to be of prototype status while WSBK is production based. Remember all the crap Aprillia got when they first raced the RSV4?

But like I've said previously, I prefer the twin over the V4. If I had wanted a V4 I would have bought a couple Aprillia's. A Ducati V4 might be another 5 or more years down the road for me.

They had originally said months ago that 2019 was the goal for WSBK. I wonder if they are going to do what they did with the Panigale? They raced that in Superstock a year before they raced it in WSBK. Checa was still on the 1198 while the Panigale was being developed in the lower series.

You weigh it up though. GP15 desmo, hitting the shelves in 2019 hopefully, that's 4 years old out of the box by the time it's in your hands

I'm just going off what the article said......

I said earlier in this thread and I agree with you, the more I hear, I don't think I'm in for this V4. I like what I have, it's way more than I know what to do with, warranty is out so I can tinker with it a little now, slip-ons, remap. Will probably save some cash and get a stable mate for what I would have to lay down in a deposit on the new R whenever the hell that may be, plus you don't buy the first generation......

I think that this is probably right. A base and S, maybe a Tri for 2018 and racing in Superstock. Then an R and WSBK in 2019.

I would never say anything is "impossible"......... but..... given how competitive the Panigale R is now in WSBK (finally...), does anyone seriously think that a completely new bike with a new engine would be raced in place of it just 8 months from now in Philip Island?
