Thought id drop this clip with me on my 1299 in white group (slowest group) here at Eastern Creek, Sydney. At 2 mins you see me at the last corner and overtake the supposedly superior HP4 down the main straight. The owner bought it used for about AU$20k, and spent another AU$20k on it, which didnt seem to help him against my pani lol. We're both usually in faster groups (yellow or green group) and at the time he'd done more califonia superbike classes than i.

Enjoy! :D

With all that being said, he was a big bloke, i reckon easy 95kg suited up, im only about 75kg suited up. Still, makes the HP4 not so superior rofl

Nothing to do with rider ability or anything clown video bruh

Mark - you should be in politics - every time someone calls out your posts, you say "I meant to say" As for price, stop with the Ducati price point. You get more HP for your dollar with a Corvette over a Porsche, but at the end of the day, it's just a Chevy.

I don't ever recall I ment to say. I have said what I mean a lot because people's reading comprehension is very low or don't get the point.

Trauma,

I wish I can retire!!! few more years.

Dont worry...many if not all will come back when V4 Ducati is out INCLUDING all .... talking guys. :D

BMWs will be flooded in the market.

Exactly my point, the video wasn't meant to be about the riders... just downright HP4 vs pani down the main straight, the HP4 (with AU$20k in mods) was ahead of me on the final turn and we BOTH gunned it, the HP4 lost, plain and simple. After the session he came up to me and was surprised how my bike went pretty hard. I doubt i converted him considering how he said he had 4 bikes in total... all BMW's. He makes you not so much of a BMW fan mate haha

Your point is moot. You're using video of C group riders to determine overall bike performance, and you don't see the problem with that?

Neither one of you had the right line or any drive out of that turn. Doesn't prove anything but that you're brand loyal.

This video also doesn't support your hypothesis. Perhaps we need a larger sample of evidence...

Lol seen this vid, this vid is a drag race from stand still which is more rider skill than bike... my vid had two riders pinning it down the main straight while moving. If you didn't know, rolling starts are a better way in determining which bike has more power. mark419ny was stating how the BMW is superior in every way to the ducati, i showed him not in every way ;). While we were normally in faster groups, it was just 2 riders going down the main straight... didn't think you'd need that much skill to do that no matter what group you're in. He also was generally faster than me around corners and was in front....

-_-

Lol it was obvious in my original post that the whole vid wasnt fair to begin with considering weight, i was just trying to annoy you and youre 'superior' hp4. In the end there are too many variables in the real world, out of all my recordings, that was the only with a modified hp4 that was ahead that i overtook... looked good doing it too :D

you did look pretty good well done :)

I'm curious as to what the final weight will be with the V4. I love my RSV4 but it is a tad chubby or big boned compared to the Panigale. My understanding is that is in part due to the V4 config. How will or can Ducati produce a production V4 close to the same weight of the Panigale?

Depends on whether Ducati keeps a frame or not. While the Aprilia engine is hefty, so is the frame. They pretty much built that thing per the Superbike rules package that they had at the time. Which meant the streetbike really didn't have to be that light, since everything was getting chucked on the race machine anyway. I would expect it to gain some weight for sure. Some of that being parts, some of that simply being more emissions equipment which everyone is going to yank off anyway.

Yea, it would be interesting to see weight for street vs track setup. Not WSBK weight but what us mortals ride for track setup. I wish I had a scale to weigh my RSV4 in track trim to see what it's really weighs right now.

Word is there is a frame- not a traditional frame but more of a frame than the pani monocoque

I could see it. I bet it will still be near the top of the class in lightness though. Just the Ducati way. I think the SL's were getting under the SBK weight limit in street trim. So they have quite a margin to work with.

I would prefer to keep with the monocoque. Anything bigger and heavier than the current Panigale R for me would be a show stopper.

I went to the dealers again this week and the Ducati rep was there. We tried to get some more info from him about the V4 but he was having none of it other than a stupid grin.

However, he did point out it has to be released for 2018 otherwise they won't have anything to race. That means the R will also have to be in production for WSBK rules. He just alluded to the bike shows later this year.
