2023 V4R oil consumption issue

So I’ve noticed that my v4r seems to be losing oil. No leaks anywhere. The bike runs well, however , the oil level goes down after every ride. Even short rides. In less than 500 miles the oil level went from the max fill line to the minimum fill line. I checked the oil many many times. I checked it cold, hot, 2 hours after riding, and the next morning and everything in between so there’s no doubt. We can avoid those questions

The last several times I started the nine I notice what I thought was steam or condensation coming out of the left undertail Akra exhaust. Which side I guess is irrelevant since they connect to the same tube at one point.

But then I started it in a dry temp control garage and saw a thin white smoke coming out of the exhaust. I checked the oil after just idling it and it lost oil even then. Seems like cold starting seems to lose the most oil but I can’t prove that.

Anyone ever have this issue ?

The bike is under warranty so it’s in the shop. This is the second time for the same issue

Thanks

Nope. Apparently it’s a tremendous process to prove the issue. The bike needs to be ridden then oil dropped and weighed etc. meanwhile to me it’s very obvious. But hey

I’m really disappointed and frustrated about it

I’m at wits end. I love the shop the bike is at ..but im pretty disappointed about this run around

First this bulletin is for a MS1200 beta t V4R.

Second, the fact that they have a service bulletin specifically on this subject means that they know it’s a problem. Ducati’s tactic is to stall and perform the “service bulletin” and put the customer through as much of a runaround as they’ll tolerate. Then after lots of time and effort, they do the right thing and attempt to fix it. This “fix” which will most likely be just slap some more sealant on a cover will be temporary because the “fix” was just a bandaid to get you off their backs long enough to get out of the warranty period. Then the diagnosis and fix is on your dime so now you’re f’ed. It’s a game to them.

You can only check the oil level cold after the bike has set overnight. The heads drain thru scavenge sections in the oil pump. Pretty much every other oil check is meaningless. Their request seems reasonable to me. Just do it. If the motor burns 2 liters of oil and grenades in 600 miles you can tell them you told them so.
