2025, totally new Panigale(?)

A side exhaust like this would disgust me.

The side exhaust disappeared on the 916's. It was a drag thing. Underseat was worth 3 - 4 mph. Don't worry that won't happen. The V4's showed up because you can't get the same valve area or RPM on the twins. Plus the ability to control valve dynamics is way better when the valve itself is lighter. The V4's have some aggressive cam profiles due to the lighter valves which you simply couldn't do on the twins. Not possible to make competitive HP even with a 200 CC advantage for a whole bunch of reasons.

Someone forgot about the Desmosedici RR. It was super cheap and readily available to the masses.

I already mentioned it… and you’re talking ‘super cheap’ and mass market in a Ducati forum?

I get the feeling you were trying to make a point but I’ve no idea what it could be. If you figure it out then feel free to share. 👍

V4 showed up bc the Superquadro couldn’t pass Euro4 which went into effect in 2017. V2 can’t burn as efficiently as a V4

Of course because the bore was 112 mm about the same as a 454 chevy. To get 240 HP from a naturally aspirated 1200 CC twin you'd have to increase the bore further and lengthen valve timing a bunch. Bike would be really peaky and hard to ride if you could actually get to that HP. And you'd have to further spin up that massive piston. Tough problem.

Someone on FB was saying that there are very strong rumours about this in Italy. It’s FB of course, so taken with a pinch of salt, but the rumours certainly aren’t going away.

People will have a meltdown… 🤣

I like progress, but I don't feel a need to jump to the latest and greatest since I'd have to spend a bunch of money to sort out all the neutering done to get it past regulations.

We're at a point now where you can buy an R7 or an exhaust installed on a Panigale V4. It's getting a bit dumb. I really wish Ducati would make a track only bike for the V2 and V4 platform.

Decided to stop by my local Ducati dealer and talked to the owner. He knows a lot of stuff behind closed door Ducati related and doesn’t just say stuff without being sure. He mentioned DSSA and seamless gearbox for new upcoming V4R. So that’s that. In other news, new Motogp 827cc rules for 2027?!? Wow

I was thinking V21L as well but you can see an engine case. My next thought was next gen V2 (similar to how the 959 had a dssa and no wings). Rear sprocket/chain also looks weird. Almost like it’s belt driven

Would be hilarious if the new V4R was an electric bike, although that would mean a withdraw from WSBK so that’s not likely…the bike in the pic looks like a test mule for the V21L to me too.

its an ICE bike for sure, the swingarm looks like the V21L swingarm. Which if you look at it is cast, which is not ever how Corse swingers are made. I asked and the V21L was designed by the inline design team - not CORSE. Which does very much makes sense that it is now coming into the consumer product line ie V2R/V4/V4R

I actually like the IDEA of a high performing electric bike, but until they find a way to get the weight down I can’t see buying one. I don’t like buying heavy bikes or cars for play toys, and usually try to find ways to strip out as much weight as possible, but you can’t do that with a battery pack. Add lightness and I’m in.
