We often obsess with saving weight at every chance we get, and we started wondering if some of the most popular mods we do actually add on weight or reduce the weight of the bike. So we put together this blog post for you.

By all means we are not saying do these to save weight, but what we are trying to get at is that most of us never think of the weight aspect when it comes to these mods.

Even though S1000RR parts were used as an example here, the results will be fairly consistent if they were swapped out for Panigale parts. The weight savings associated with the gas cap would be even higher when it comes to the gas cap of the Panigale as well since the stock gas cap of the Panigale is rather on the higher end of the scale.

So are there any mods which you can name that is not directly associated with weight savings, but at the end of the day it does save weight off the bike?

Carbon monocoque tail
Akro Evo Ti race exhaust
Battery
Lots of Carbon
Lots of Titanium

Those are fairly common parts when we think of weight reduction. The whole purpose of the blog was to show some parts which we don't associate with weight reduction actually end up saving us weight. ;)

Added up and it's just over 2lbs. Sounds like a humble plug to me considering most of those parts are in your signature block.

hahaha I was going to copy and paste the list and say these would be great weight savings :D but decided on a dump instead.

Cut down on the booze and stop eating junk food. That's a good start, plus you'll save weight AND money

Not really a plug. It is the parts which we offer to enthusiasts. But we were wondering if there was any weight savings associated with such mods.

To my surprise, I wouldn't have thought that the rear fender eliminator saves any weight, since NRC parts are all mostly made of metal.

At the end of the day, it is not so hard to appreciate the work put towards such a post, since I think any enthusiast would enjoy to see the outcome.

no rear fender elim. at all saves the most.

headlight delete and replacement with LED strips saves the most.

most effective is rotating mass - go CF wheels !

And don't forget a Ti oil plug. Merry Christmas Phil. :)

You can read the short but interesting blog post we just put up here: https://www.motomillion.com/blogs/motomillion-blog/5-mods-you-didnt-think-of-as-weight-reduction

using this to drive traffic to your website pretty lame.

I did the 520 superlite front and rear sprockets, chain, and titanium axle nuts and hardware and that shaved 3 pounds of unsprung rotating mass. I also did the Akra full system at 12 pounds lost, replaced the front and rear plastic fenders with carbon (negligible weight lost) and I took of the engine cylinder heat shields (maybe half a pound).
