Last week forum member Luis Berrios had a car do a u-turn in front of him, he t-boned and totalled his 1199. Fortunately he walked away and only some road rash but no major injuries.

Here are pics he took. I saw the bike yesterday at NPR ducati. Pretty spectacular and he's lucky to have come off so well.

ON a better note, I met forum member Darkknight and another guy Rob, who was picking up his brand new 1199. It was neat to run into other pani owners!

Gutted, although it looks like it can be repaired pretty easily..?

nah it's completely toast.

THe front forks are bent, broke the head stock and the bottom triple clamp fracturerd as well. I didn't see a whole lot on the bike that was salvageable. Maybe the motor, rear wheel and swing arm.

Good thing for Luis is he went OVER the vehicle he hit whic probably saved hiim from serious injury.

Soooo lucky. There was a really bad one where the guy wrapped around and through the sunroof.

Stuart almost died in his second serious crash
Ten years ago, the biker was nearly killed after he collided with a van which changed lanes suddenly.
“Half of my body went through the sunroof, the other half through the windscreen,” he said. “Five of the people who came to help that day had to go to hospital to be treated for shock because they thought they’d witnessed a man dying.
“I remember lying there on the road thinking I could either give up there and then, or fight and carry on living.”
Stuart’s crash happened as he travelled to hospital for a check-up on an injury sustained in a previous road accident.
As he recovered from the second crash, Stuart suffered a series of falls which sparked a neurological condition which caused years of fits and seizures.
And then, in 2008, blindness struck. He recalled: “There was one day I was supposed to be moving room, it was really busy. People were packing things in plastic bags, and that noise has always really frazzled my brain.
“Well it happened again, except this time the seizure lasted two hours. When I came round, everything was black and I’ve not been able to see anything since.”
The former engineer would love to go back to work and hopes the speed challenge will demonstrate to others that he is still capable.

Totally put me off riding today.... I did ..but I hate seeing .... like this....

i never like to hear stuff like this, however it happens more than we like to admit, I hope your friend knocked the guy out who hit him, because all that insurance CRAP doesnt work. ITS a joke, you get your bike replaced but what about the guy who hit you, NOTHING they should pay the cost and get beat up, feel some of our pain!

Thanks for spreading the word for others to be cautious Chris. Specially this time of the year. I forgot to post here. Sorry guys! Thanks all for the good wishes.

I will keep you guys posted in respects to insurance because I am interested to see how they settle it as well considering it only had 1400 miles on it. Even though I do not owe anything close to MSRP I would like to recover that money that I put down and not only the remainder of the loan.

Believe me I had all the intention but not being able to walk at the time limited me to doing nothing but roll on the ground. And seeing how she was a woman I would have ended up in jail most likely :D

i would of played possum, had she come over i would have told her "TO SUCK IT" because thats all she's good for since her brain's are up her ass and vag!!

luis,
Couldn't believe you walked away, more/less from that after seeing the bike in person Saturday, WOW!

I've got foremost insurance, the first year of ownership they will replace the bike with a new identical bike.

lol! That made me laugh. Good technique, but playing possum would have gotten me run over by oncoming traffic.

Good to see you made it out alive.

Thanks :)

Yeah, someone is definitely taking care of me. While I was meditating in mid flight I saw myself with all sorts of broken bones and turns out that when people see me they think I made up the story just to make myself look cool and that I actually fell during a walk in the park.

That insurance settlement sounds great! She has progressive, hopefully that is their take on it.

So, another Panigale is coming? Our friend Paul at NPR made the 2012 budget just with the 3 of us :D

EY! Welcome to the panigale forum :D I'm sure he did. All that cashing in from insurance companies that now they have a pet in the store, an actual duck. Haven't seen it yet but I know I will soon...

About getting another panigale, that is a maybe. Since I am planning to buy a house soon I got lucky that this will free me from the loan and I can get a cheaper bike... so depends on the housing situation.

Jeez....glad you escaped that mess!

Def a good reason to have full comprehensive coverage for these delicate toys

I had some punk kid pull out in front of me one time, when i hit him there were plenty of witnesses no one moved around that intersection since i was in the middle of the road, the kid came over as i looked at him, I 1st tried to swing but couldn't since my arm smashed into his car frame, ouch, but i asked him to come closer then SPIT right in his face, however i had a few pieces of glass in my mouth from the rear window i destroyed with my body and the rear quarter panel, "thats for being a complete F*ing RETARD!" the witness removed him away for fear i would of tried other physical harm!! HAHAHAHAHA, Glad your ok, BUT REMEMBER EXPECT the UNEXPECTED, you can't hit them when your bleeding or lying in the road but you can always drag them out the car when they pull over!!
