After The Up-Map

Rode to the dealer and told them what I've been reading on the forum. He ran my vin and sure enough there is a recall to flash the ecu. I was on a different bike so we couldn't do it at that time. He said just call ahead and I'll ride in and they will plug it in. Can anyone tell me how long this upload takes. I have no complaint concerning the performance of my bike. I hope the upload doesn't .... anything up. But if it improves the midrange grunt it'll be worth it

Takes 30 minutes if they are slow.

Hi all, Apologies as with one thing or another ive been away from the forum for quite some time, This is the first ive heard of the upmap? i run a standard 1199 with termi slip ons which i got in May last yr, So is there now a new upmap available which takes that white smoke away ay start up?? my dealer hasnt contact me with any news (however there no longer a ducati dealer but they do still have the ducati servicing dept)
If anybody can update me on what,s happened id appreciate it and whether or not this is a worldwide update or just for specific markets? im British so basically do we still get this upmap? and considering i bought it in May will i def not already have it?
Cheers

If your bike hasn't been in to Ducati after the beginning of November, you won't have the most recent upmap.

Go and get it! Improves the bike dramatically!

Just to add, does it cure/aleviate the white smoke on start up problem? 2k miles on mine and its still doing it.

Not many people have mentioned persisting white smoke.

I think its fair to say that those that had smokers, on the whole reported a drastic improvement after their 600mile service.

Having said that, an occasional puff of black smoke is common when the bike has been left sitting for 2-3 weeks, or if it has only been previously started and not ridden - just revved to show off a bit

OK, so everyone pretty much universally loves the new up-maps :)

For me, I find the throttle definitely requires a lot more finesse in 195Hi than before, as its made the bike significantly more wheelie prone.

Not a bad thing, but it highlights how noticeable the changes are :p

How are others finding their new 1199 ;)

what settings do you use for the wheelie to happen?

Cheers, it is only only start up,but i dont particulary think its got any better since the 600 service, i,l mention this when i go in aswell.

Settings? It's 195 horses and 98 lbf of torque sitting under you. You can do it in ANY settings except MAYBE the wet 120! There is no wheelie control. If there is nothing wrong with your bike, at wide open throttle you WILL wheelie in at least 1st and 2nd gear no problem.

Had my new up-map applied today. Didn't feel much difference, didn't really have any gripes with the bike anyway. I think I need a longer ride to get the feel for it.

Called my dealer, just gotta take the bike in for the upmap, they will take a look at the smoke issue aswell (although seeing as its only at initial start up when the bike is cold then i dont know what they will see) and they have sent an email to ducati about my misting clocks.

Just got back from 1st service. As with others I found it is smoother and pulls better down lower (sub 6k) and with the pipes about 3-4 degC cooler.

Am happy with the outcome. Will see how it beds in over the next 1000kms.

Cheers,
MoZ.

It'll just keep improving.

I noticed improvements after fitting the slips, then after 1st service, then when the SW was updated.

Just need to ride more!!

Hey all,

My first post, although long time reader/ lurker.

I had my lower fairing replaced under warranty due to the melting issue, while it was in the dealer completed a " Recall Software upgrade SB870 "

That just may be their code but the bike is amazingly different across all rev ranges, it idles a bit higher and the head light is now off until the motor is running.

Maybe my software was the older version. Now with the headlight off, starting the bike has also improved.

Cheers
Mark

Welcome Mark.

Makes sense re the headlight and starting

IIRC, the service terminal told my dealer that 2x more updates where in the release pipeline, when he last connected by bike up. This could be one of them that has just been released?
