Akrapovic Exhaust with Custom tuned ECU deal/Group Buy ?

Hey Guys - for those interested in the Akrapovic Exhaust for the Panigale. I've been talking to the Rexxer guys about this. They've agreed to do a group buy if there are enough people interested in the Akrapovic exhaust for 1199. As you guys know, the Akrapovic exhaust is Titanium and of the highest quality. The price will be around 4k depending upon how many we get into the group buy. But what they are willing to do for people interested before the release, is that they have agreed to include with the purchase of the exhaust through them a rexxer tune module with the tuned akrapovic ecu map. With the actual rexxer module, you will be able to store your stock ecu in the tune module and put the akrapovic tune map onto your ecu. If you ever want to remove the akrapovic ecu and restore to your stock ecu, you can do so with the rexxer program module at any time in the future. I believe this module is like $500. I really like the concept of being able to restore my ecu back to factory if I ever wanted to without sending an ecu module away to be programmed...

To Me this is the best of both worlds IMO. I have nothing to do with this particular deal and am only trying to pass this information along for those who may be interested in the Akrapovic exhaust and want to have the tuned up map for the exhaust. I've put my name down on the list and put a deposit down. If anyone else is interested - please contact [email protected] and tell them you're interested in the Akrapovic group buy with the included ECU up map.

Akrapovic's expected release date for the exhaust is sometime in early to mid May. Found out while in discussions with them that Akrapovic is partnered with Rexxer to develop tuned maps for the Ducati 1199 and other Ducati's (Multi/Hyper/etc etc).

Standard disclaimer - I don't work for them, own them, or have any affilication with Akrapovic or Rexxer, etc. I have been a customer of theirs (and other Ducati dealerships) and many of you guys know them for their ECU tuning for other exhausts.

Sounds awesome! The deal that is! :D

I like the fact that this system was not rushed out to the public but that they have really done their home work. At least that is how it appears to be.

I don't think I could justify swapping the full DP for this just yet, unless there was some huge power and torque improvements.

I have faith considering my previous Titanium Akrapovic system experiences that this will be the best full system available.

I can't wait to hear how it works out for you and thanks for getting the ball rolling on a group deal inc the rexxer. I'm envious that I'm not in the market.

pics look good on their site. also look like they have the spring moved down farther so it wont melt the fairing like the stock or termi's are doing.

Something to add about the rexxer unit. Had one for my 1098SF, and it was the best tuning unit you can buy. But the only problem is when you go to sell it, that Rexxer unit is locked to that perticular bike. And if you wanna sell the unit, you have to send it to rexxer to get it flashed for a new bike. So the person that buys it second hand has to send it out and they charge you $300.

Just an FYI.

Other than that it a wicked unit.

they post numbers for the rest of the systems why wouldnt they do them for the pani?

Just speculation based on what they've done thus far. The system has been available to purchase for a couple of months now yet none have shipped. Instead of posting specs and performance gains they posted video and sound clips. Clearly they felt video and audio was more important. maybe an AK rep will logon and answer a few questions for us?

I should probably stay out of this....

whoopazz - my understanding of the rexxer unit (at least the non-dealer version) is that it is loaded with 1 serialized upmap for your bike (not sure if its VIN based or something else) - that you can upload the tuned map to your bike (and download the stock ecu to load back later). If you sell the unit because you don't want it anymore, the new owner can't do anything with it because they haven't purchased an upmap for their bike (or another bike). So whatever that charge is to get another mapping for another bike (same or different). .

And to clarify - it's not the rexxer unit that was kickass, its the guys there who developed the map that is kickass. The rexxer is just the tool. I don't own the rexxer unit, but do have the same tuned map on my 1098 Streetfighter as you (they programmed the ECU for me when they got possession of it ) - the damn bike is an absolute monster. Throttle control is crisp and brutal. No fueling issues in the lower end and no fuel holes. Totally thrilled with it on the SF - which is why I know (or believe) that those guys will make a killer map with the new Akrapovic exhaust that they've been tasked to do.

Yup that's exactly what I meant, just wanted to give some people info if they ever plan to sell it. It's not the same as a PC V or bazzazz. Once you connect it to your bike and upload, it's locked to that bike. Nice way of rexxer making some extra coin lol

Very true. It's the same way Ducati does it with their USB upmap key. It can be uploaded once and then its just a piece of plastic. I guess they don't want everyone loading and showing "Racing Evo" on their dash if you didn't buy the Termi Exhaust from them (or use it on say another exhaust).

So right now the Akropovich is $3465. The Rexxer is $500? So the group buy would be around $4000 complete with custom tune? It would have to less, no?

Any info on how the acro system compares to the termi full system on the dyno - peak power and midrange (dyno charts)?
