Akrapovic Exhaust with Custom tuned ECU deal/Group Buy ?

Just speculation based on what they've done thus far. The system has been available to purchase for a couple of months now yet none have shipped. Instead of posting specs and performance gains they posted video and sound clips. Clearly they felt video and audio was more important. maybe an AK rep will logon and answer a few questions for us?

If he does, my recommendation is that he not say anything about a competitor:rolleyes:

found this on previous post about hp numbers

I have a thing for titanium, and I love the look. I just hope they drop the CF though. The only problem I have with the base exhaust, is the look. It sounds better than any other bike I have ever owned - maybe because they were all 4-bangers!

Part of what sold me was that I picked up a Akrapovic multistrada titanium manifold and it weighed like a whopping pound in a half. It was very well made and absurdly light. Couldn't believe how light it was.

I think they're beautifully made. I had one on my R1. I held the Akra MTS exhaust too, impressive! Sounds awesome, just too loud. Now, for the pain that's a different story. I can't wait to see these.

The test were done pre upmap if I recall but if the new upmap improved the termis wouldn't it improve the akra also?

Personally I would discount any dyno's from last year - no matter how good they look in comparison to the stock/termi setup. This includes the previous akra dyno's as well even though it looks like it gives a good comparison. That's just me though.

so.. was price rehashed based on this info?? Or is it still $4000???

I can't speak for them but I don't believe you are going to be anywhere near that with the ecu up map and rexxer included in it. They have agreed to give a discount and throw a valuable component with it. Very few companies will try and be near mm prices. MM doesn't even want you to call or talk to them.

But even if you wanted to go that route - you would still have to add the rexxer unit at 600 or whatever.

Ok... Well I am not going to get embroiled in another debate here... but not sure this group buy looks like a bargain... imho:cool:

Though I have no doubts as to the potential efficacy of this set up....

Yeah If I can find it for 3400. WHy do the group buy? But does the 3400 come with an Akra ECU remap?

No it doesn't... But my point is this... Group buys typically amount to an approx 10% discount... so if I can buy Akra pipe from MM for $3400 and the Rexxer from Redline for $600 then the group buy price for this combo should be more like $3600.... No??

So, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the Austin Racing and Termi made from stainless tubing? Titanium alloy is usually 50% or more lighter than the same piece made of stainless. They're all roughly in the $4K range and if the AK is full Ti construction, it is most likely hundreds of grams lighter. Seems like a way better value for a much lighter part as long as the power is in the same ballpark. Anyone know actual all up weights for each of these systems? I'd be interested to know!

Yeah I agree.

Utoh, don't ask STW about the AR system please!! LOL

There is a discount Its like 10 percent (maybe a bit more) plus the ecu map and rexxer unit. You take your chances with mm (or any other parts unlimited vendor). I think people are mistaking that the list price is like 4400 or something.

I'm pretty happy as I get good support and they are responsive. Can't say the same for mm. Good luck getting any information from them at all.

But it's not really a "group buy" as I mentioned as no one is organizing it. It's more a - if you want a good deal with an authorized dealer and the tuning the partner - then they are cutting a slightly better deal now.

I've bought lots of parts thru mm in the past for my r1's and always talked to them on the phone, they were always helpful. It funny how different people have different experiences with vendors lol
