Aprilia RSV4R Factory versus 1199

I can't wait till I get into the race tier on my track days to see really where the pani lies in comparison to the hp4 and rsv. In beginner tier I blow by them in the straights and turns. My first intermediate day is this Sunday. Hopefully some hp4s and rsv's make it out to Cressen.

just took my RSV4 to the track yesterday and had a fantastic time. I wasn't timing laps on the Pani so I can't compare on that basis but my knee pucks got much more wear than they ever did on the Pani, so I'm obviously more comfortable throwing the V4 into turns even on the first day. Acceleration seemed every bit as good as the Pani out of the turns; I was not expecting the grunt the bike ended up delivering in anger. Looking forward to seeing how the Race ECU improves it when I get it loaded. Already have the Akro pipe, just not the map. Could not be happier with the new girl's track performance. Also, no anxiety about damaging the bike on the track, which I admit was always in the back of my mind. Cheap to fix and not a beauty queen regardless - although the faster I ride her the prettier she gets.

I think it's a well known fact people would ride bikes they don't care for harder then their prized ones"¦and judging by this post you still have reservations about trading your Panigale.

I gotta believe HP4 will walk you..Rsv maybe a closer call....But please keep us updated...:)

A bit of a Johnny come lately to this thread. But just to add my two cents, I came from an RSV4R and, while I love the Pani, I miss the smoothness and ridability of the Aprilia. (And to give disclaimer of my pansy nature, I also find it too loud. My wife rides with me and we are unable to hear much on our coms due to the volume of the bike.) I originally went with the Pani as one, it is obviously a thing of beauty, and two, the electronics package and the ABS were BIG selling points for me. And honestly I didn't want to buy an RSV4 now when I'd rather wait for the next gen model. And when that next gen comes out, I'm already thinking I will be going back to the Aprilia.

Hi Surgut, no regrets at all, I was hooked on the V4 from the fist ride, every time I get on the bike that's reinforced, as is my delight that I moved from the Pani to this bike. My point about less lowside anxiety on the track is that the pani is such a work of art (I'll never get tired of her looks) I sweated it every time I got a gravel nick in the paint. With the V4, parts and body work are so cheap that I can afford to replace parts if damaged with relatively little sweat to the budget - heck, the entire upper fairing is about $200 on this bike.

I took an hp4 down the back straight at COTA. Passed him in the turn and we were dead locked all the way to 170mph. But maybe he didn't pin the throttle idk. We were similar height and he was thin like me.

Good for you, man.
Perhaps, when looking for a track bike, I'd give RSV a shot.

Not yet. I was waiting to decide what the verdict was on whether or not the heat shield mods were worth it and was going to do it then.

Get both... Definitely the sprocket at least....

Do you ride with any S1000's??

No, I avoid them like the plague so I can say I have the fastest bike and nobody can call me on it. :D

Lol...I ride with 2... I cant hide...

I think you speed demons have more of a problem with this than I do. I came from only owning naked bikes the past few years so the Panigale is plenty fast enough for me. I don't race and don't do any street racing so I am perfectly fine with it the way it is. I couldn't use any more ponies anyhow.

I never race.... just represent :)
