The pani is far more exotic (and consequently you've got some trade offs for that). The ape, tho many disagree with me, has a very japanese feel to it. It really does stand out in a crowd of japanese bikes like the pani does. Also, the components are not as good on the ape, but overall, if I could only have one bike and the choices were pani or ape, I'd pick the ape hands down.
It's just a easier bike to live with as daily transport. Apes are good reliable bikes too,
That said tho, the pani is a sweet ride and I love the motor. I'm hoping for a streetfighter version in the next year or two (probably wishful thinking). That's the only thing that would' get me to part with my 1098 SF (24k miles on it now!)
