Aprilia RSV4R Factory versus 1199

Thanks for that insight.. I do believe that the parts issues have largely been addressed by Piaggio and what you are referring to is some what historical.. Looks?? Well that's always going to be subjective but its hard to argue the 1199 is simply a beautiful looking bike... so any other bike I might buy would be a "step down" in that dept.

My biggest issue right now is the difference between my bike and the Rsv4r Factory is $6500 ...thats what it would cost me to change.. and that right now is simply not gonna happen.. I could buy a pretty good track bike for that (Daytona 675 :D) used of course... so I am going to sit tight and see what 2014 brings in the way of a new Aprilia ...

But I do not see myself getting another Ducati as and when I decide to change bikes in the future... and as I am not now a fan of the Beemer..The Ape seems to be somewhat of an inevitability ... But we shall see

Thank you for sharing anyway...:)

Sounds like very good reasoning.

that's the wrong view. it's on the other side that counts. and both those bikes are superior for street, out of the box that is.

I don't like the new gen Aprilias, I prefer the previous gen. The front end looks too much like a ....... Honda. And I can't be seen on a Honda :D .

I'm sorry but I just can't bring myself to buy a bike from a company that believes that they win championships strictly because of their bike and that all you need to ride it is a trained monkey. Oops, they did get a monkey, Pedrobot!

But at least they win....;)

And their bike IS better:eek:

Because of their riders and I'm not referring to Pedrobot :D

I will admit I've had a few Hondas in the past. A 95 Chris 900, 95 Goldwing (lasted 8 months, I'll never be that old), and an 03 RC51. Refused to buy another one since. It's just silly how I choose to buy my bikes. I bought an 07 R1 because Yamaha took out full page adds congratulating Hayden on his championship while Hondas adds congratulated their own bikes for winning. Go figure. ;)

precisely my point!

It's the right view because that's what you'll be looking at when it's parked at Starbucks all day.

and how can you slam Pedrosa? or any of those guys? and how can you bash Honda? it's a fantastic bike! this is all chintzy snobbery here.

I was actually referring to Aprilia .. But undoubtedly right now Honda lead the way in MotoGp... but I see in LeMans at least Ducati improved their position.. a lot.. But Aprilias success in Sbk has way more relevance to the bike you can buy than any MotoGp bike...

I'm with ya Stw. Aprillia has been kicking arse even without Max. It's also good to see Kawasaki and Beemer being competitive. Now if Honda would update their bike, Jonathan Rea would be on strong contender. He's definitely been outriding his bike.

if only you could ride their standard liter bike consumer offering to, say, 60% of its limitation, and not just en route to your starbucks visit :D

The day I can buy the MotoGP Honda is the day I might take Honda seriously.

Ah, hence the exact reason why "looks" is arguably one of the most important criteria in picking a bike! I can ride neither anywhere near the limitations and the Ape has a deltabox, Honda front end, dual sided Pro-link swingarm and a host of other aesthetic atrocities too egregious to mention. I'll stick with my too-hot, unreliable, sketchy electronic, yet beautiful Panigale thank you.

:)

Well at least you acknowledge why someone might look elsewhere in the Super bike class...;)

it's your right to suffer on your way to starbucks and even learn to enjoy it!

so if it is not the bike and it is not the rider, why in your opinion is Dani winning races??

Seriously it's always a combination of bike and rider. Not just one or the other. Rossi proved it when he went to Yamaha and Stoner with Ducati. And sometimes a bike can get so lost that great riders can't make a difference.
