The SF is a good bike but as you say, its not quite a Panigale but not quite a grand tourer either. If I was to get one bike to do it all, it would be the V4 PP, its not a track bike and if you push you will find limits, they are still very very fast just not insane like a Panigale! Ive toured my Pani and I dont mind it, but the Multi is like an armchair in comparison.

I had a SF and didn't felt like it departed enough from a Panigale to be a good street bike. This is why I think the sporty Multis are better than the SF at street riding and they have useable mirrors. If I were to buy another Ducati, it would probably be a Multistrada. If I were to buy another sport bike for track and occasional street use, it would probably be a BMW or Yamaha.

I’ll take one for a test ride….that Mono looks cool as hell too

Finally starting to get a feel for the RC 8C…starting back at square and re-learning how to ride, got about 5 track days in on her so far, and am 6 seconds faster at Chuckwallah than I ever was on the V4. Feeling improvement in all areas of my riding. Love this bike, miss the power of the V4 but am having more fun and actually going faster on this bike.

Can’t wait for the new iteration of the V4R to come out, but that’s probably not until 2026. In the interim I think I’m about to pull the trigger on an HP4 Race…that’s the closest bike to this KTM RC 8C ergonomically and in wet weight. But with a lot more power.

On the power side of things I don’t miss the extra 100 hp because this bike is so torquey, and still very fun, but occasionally I miss that Ducati cheat code of running guys down on the straights haha

i got a suomy helmet after seeing your post about it. liking it better than the agv for street

Yeah I liked the Soumy just a little bit better than the AGV, not much but just enough that I’d grab it on the way to the track instead of the AGV. But I like the Shark better than both of those, it’s more stable at speed and for my particular head shape it fits perfectly.

The Shark is definitely NOT a street helmet, but at speed on track it hits its sweet spot.

waste of money

Not really. It’s still to this day probably the greatest and most well sorted production bike ever made. With the Kramer GP2-RR and the KTM RC 8C 2nd.

That’s no cut on Ducati, I love them, but you have to put $20k into them to get them up to speed with the track capabilities of those two bikes, and even then it’s not nearly as easy to ride fast for a non-professional rider as the HP4-Race and GP2-RR/RC 8C.

The Ducati is arguably a funner more visceral emotion producing machine, but if you want to get fast, not the best option.

What will you do when the motor in the hp4 race fails?

This issue is keeping me from buying one.

I seriously don't get the logic here. Do you have a fixed budget for a bike? Imo hp4 race only worth if the budget is capped low.

Otherwise getting s1000rr gen4 or v4s will get you a modern well performing bike for reasonable amount of moneys.
And you don't need 20k on top of either to make it track (even club race) friendly.

I don’t see the problem. If someone has the budget to buy and run a bike like that and they want to do it then go for it.

I don’t think he was seeking financial advice…

The only negative I can see is that he would struggle to find upgrades for it. I’m sure he would find some though.

Fully fueled 376lbs and 215 HP seems like it would be an interesting bike. I don't think advising someone to get a V4S as a track bike really makes sense. Having ridden a S1000RR recently, I'm not in a hurry to get one.

The supersport market seems to be exploding right now. I keep looking at the GSX-R750. About 150 HP and costs about the same as an exhaust for a Ducati.

thats huge !

Pretty stoked about it, but realistically I went from slow to less slow lol…I’m only making that big of improvements BECAUSE I’m still slow lol

The New BMW’s and Aprillias are having a lot of engine failures, there may be engine failures on the HP4 Race but I’ve never heard of one. An acquaintance of mine, usually the fastest guy at all our local track days, road one for 3 or four years, 10 track days per year minimum on one without a single problem with the engine.

The engine is warrantied to 3500 miles, then they want you to get a new engine, not because it will fail at 3500 miles, but because they will warranty the new engine for another 3500 miles.

I’m not concerned about the engine failing, especially under warranty. And I’ll keep it well lubricated with tip top maintenance, if it fails after 3500 miles I’m good with buying a new engine.

Like the RC 8C no upgrades needed…even less so…I did actually upgrade the brakes on my RC 8C but only because I had the parts in my garage…the HP4 Race already has the best brakes and suspension you can realistically buy, even 7 years old.
