Get one, but get the Kramer not the KTM…you have to go through Kramer for any support on the bike and parts, and it has a slightly better ECU.

Almost no tangible difference between the bikes, but back end support is phenomenal with Kramer and non-existent with KTM

Following in the footsteps of Steven, I did get a Kramer. It’s a really beautiful bike.

Unfortunately, 200-ish km in, on the start of my 3rd day on Mugello the engine blew up, briefly seizing on the main straight (much for the fun of people coming behind me) and spewing oil thru the vent hose in the air box.

Waiting to hear from Kramer if they’ll pick up the bike (it’s kept in a warehouse in Germany) and look at it or I am on my own :(

its so annoying to see people on ...... bikes spitting oil all over Mugello causing all sorts of delays to 200+ other people

Which model did you go with?

That engine is about as analogue and rock solid as they come, we aren't talking about some highly tuned race engine pushed to the limit…it’s a standard Twin with some forged bits for extra strength…I mean anomalies happen but I’m on both the Kramer GP2-RR forums and the KTM RC 8C forums and no one has lost one of these engines yet, not even in BSB where they put lightweight alternators and flywheels etc on them.

Did you mod your engine or tune in any way?

In any case, Kramer is a bunch of stand up guys, as long as you didn’t do something crazy to the engine they’ll square you away.

It’s a brand new bike - this was its first track event. Also, there is another (french?) guy in the Facebook page with 2024 RC with dead engine after 150km.

Kramer are indeed great guys, but they will be on the mercy of KTM warrantying the engine. Bike is going to be checked on Thursday.

And by “great” I mean “going above and beyond” - they’ve organized the bike pickup asap and are going to try to work with KTM fix it for my next event in few weeks.

Anyways, we’ll see how things develop in the next few days. I am not sure what kind of user error I could’ve possibly done in the space of few slow sessions to damage the bike like this :(

Did you do the engine break in…an hour under 7K RPM?

Also, this is VERY important with these bikes, you can’t let it run for even 5 minutes standing still because it’s a race bike with no fans, and overheats almost immediately when it’s running and standing still.

The engine is already ran in - the break-in period is for the gearbox and it’s under 10.5k for gp2-rr (with a redline of 11.5) for 200km.

They’ve started doing that now? They were talking about offering this when I saw them at Most. Are you at their next event in Brno?

It’s on a case by case basis right now, but yes -they were saying that it’s something that they are actively working on as available service for next year.

Unless something unexpected pops - I should be there :)
