Did you find a way to make the exhaust work with the side stand?

Yes, we just put an adjuster screw in there that keeps it off the exhaust…..the one hiccup with that though is that it’s fine for the street but we remove the kickstand at the track because it sticks out just enough that at enough lean angles it could touch the ground…not a problem because I’ll never lean that far on the street, and at the track I use the stands and tire warmers

Steven.

I NEED to tell you something.

You 100% need a pneumatic preload collar!

Or one of these…

Craig, which shock is that? That’s a different preload than the standard TTX ships with. Did you guys set that up differently?

That looks like the preload that I had on the RSP40 but Craig’s shock looks like the standard cast body TTX not the billet 40. Just curious why he used that instead of the standard TTX hydraulic unit.

You’re correct - it’s the SBK preload installed on the regular ttx shock. Brad suggested that over the pneumatic preload. It’s a nice piece.

Still have the rsp40?

Faaaaak no, I sold it. I got it from Codex “don’t worry, we have all the parts for it” Motorsports and of course like all the rest of the “kitted” parts they sold they never have all the parts so I couldn’t get it completed. Just as well. It would be nice to see Ohlins do a little something with their shock body on their high end stuff.

They do a beautiful job on the SBK stuff and even the RT forks have nice billet bottoms but that dull cast body on the TTX could use an update. I like that Mupo gives you a beautifully machined billet shock for around the same $$.

VBreeze asked for riding impressions after all the recent mods….we put on the H2O radiator, rear linear shock link, extended swingarm, Spark WSBK exhaust.

1st, I’ve been reticent to post riding impressions for a couple reasons, the one track day I ran it I lost the gear position sensor and with it all the suspension and rider Nannie’s and controls on the 1st hot lap…..the main reason though is that I realized I’m soooo slow at the track compared to the rest of you (for now) that I’m not really pushing this bike anywhere close to the limits, so how useful can my riding report actually be for some of you?

what I report now may change dramatically as I learn to push the bike much harder.

So with that caveat emptor here’s my 1st riding impressions….1st the electronic Nannie’s crapping out was probably a good thing because now I know how it feels when it’s ‘just bike’ mechanical setup.

H2O radiator: The engine heat is running on average 1 bar on heat indicator lower than it normally runs, over time that’s very good for the engine, but the Spark exhaust runs hotter than the Akra so it a wash in terms of the heat you FEEL while riding the bike….well maybe it moved from 1st degree burns to just super uncomfortable without leathers on lol.

The H20 also added weight to the bike….so in sum total I wouldn’t do the H20 unless you are a full time track rat racing several times a month, actually racing,…..not needed for even track days.

Spark WSBK exhaust…..LOVE IT. 1st on sound, the bike is fast as hell, but the exhaust makes it sound even faster than it is, some exhausts do that….this one does…..power band I can’t report on yet as we are still running the Akra factory upmap tune but that will change this week.

linear shock link and rear swingarm: hard to describe accept to say that even without any electronic Nannie’s the bike feels more ‘settled’, I’m still running the stock shocks and forks but with upgraded heavier springs and it feels so good at my riding level that I’m in no hurry to upgrade those parts.

the bike just feels more stable in every part of the ride….not wheely-ing like I use to even with wheelie control completely off on hard accelerations, turn in is still sharp and precise feeling. Mid corner the bike feels less darty and more stable, it just tracks the line better….acceleration off the apex feels more controlled and stable

the bike just feels like it wants to GO, but the rider is holding it back lol…dunno how to describe that properly accept to say that it feels like I’m fighting the bike less….before it felt like me versus the bike in a contest to the death or dishonor, now it’s more like the bike is asking me to go faster, and doing so with a kind of polite frustration in its voice hahaha…it’s trying not to be rude, but is rolling it’s eyes at how slow I am lol, whereas before it was like: .... you! BONSAI!!!

which in some ways is what I wanted with all these mods at my riding level, I wanted to eliminate anything on the bike that made me feel hinky or less confident, so that it was only my riding ability holding me back, which I can improve with more laps at the track..

Thanks, that's an awesome report. I was really hoping for something like that from you because you're at an interesting transition. You're confirming some things for me. I think the discovery process is absolutely critical. It's building a relationship and finding what works for you. Rushing it you might miss many opportunities to improve and get lost with what's working and why.
I'm still learning my bike as well and I wanted to spend a good amount of time with it stock because I wanted to understand the intention of the design. (I'm an industrial designer so I'm extra fascinated by the factory parts and how they solve performance Vs production goals and challenges.) I'm starting to scrape toes & rearsets so it's time to start personalizing it finally.
F*kme, I'm impressed with this bike more and more. Cars didn't change this much over the last 6-8 years. Bikes fly now and how they should be ridden evolved as well. It's a bunch to grow into but that has been a profound joy for me, I hope for you as well.

“Cars haven’t changed as much over the last 6-8 years.”

man I dunno about that, there’s that whole electric thing…..... me what those cars can do is cray cray….in the non electric cars probably the best innovation is the 4 wheel STEERING on my Porsche, and active engine mounts.

the rear wheels steer the same direction as the front wheels at high speeds to help reduce rear slide or oversteer, and they steer the opposite direction of the front wheels at lower speeds so it pivots faster….it also has active engine mounts that move the engine around in the engine bay to rebalance the center of gravity of the car in micro seconds to help around the twisties almost like a super bike rider moving around the bike to rebalance it….the overall affect is that it makes a 3500 pound car feel like a 2500 pound car….pretty amazing engineering in modern super cars, especially Porsche….and the volumetric efficiency of the engines is crazy now too….1100 horsepower pumping through a 3.8 or 4.0 liter 6 cylinder on fuel you can get at a gas station and with reliability and drivability was unheard of 10 years ago

theres a guy that re-invented the rotary engine without all the flaws of the rotary engine, with HUGE volumetric efficiencies, petrol engine that’s putting out similar numbers at similar weights.
Yea I saw that but he isn’t Koenigsegg and that motor according to the video is a concept.
