Rade missed an opportunity to design something more like the Kramer (Roto Industries) subframe/tank for the V4. By including the front part of the tank, it’s not possible to change the seat height. Kramer has an eccentric bolt in the tank to allow you to easily increase the seat height so that you could make ergo and cg adjustments.

Add a thicker seat pad?

I've decided to use 1098/1198 black metallic on the tank with cagiva style silver/gold graphics. Then on the seat portion wrap it with carbon fiber cloth and pour the resin on it in place. I had a roll of carbon fiber cloth somewhere. I see no downside to the tank. I'll be able to hang off more readily and it holds more gas. And the seats flat like a proper superbike.

Perfect. I was thinking about a tall seat but maybe not needed. Just a nice design.

I asked them to include an extra set of seat pads just in case and they did. That way I have the maximum adjustability for my height…I’d rather move the seat up than the pegs down push come to shove.

My one negative on the unit is that they don’t come with the adhesive on the seat pads already, but that’s just a personal pet peeve, I hate dealing with transferring the sheets of adhesive.

Also like a lot of European stuff I’ve bought, there is no instructions with it…it’s pretty straight forward but there’s some bits I’m not immediately sure about…there is some extra tubing in the hardware kit that I’m not sure where it goes, and there is a line coming out of the OEM tank on the left side near where the ground wire is…not sure what that’s for but the RADE tank doesn’t have that.

I’m going to do this with the fairings:

But with the nose piece reversed, the exposed CF with be red and the red will be exposed CF

For the tank I’m going to paint the top of the tank gloss red with the sides of the tank and seat/tail section in satin black:

I like the CAGIVA font but am partial to the 60’s and 70’s fonts…leaning toward the 60’s version.

The rear bolt for the subframe is an eccentric that allows you to adjust seat height a bit, in a similar way the HP4 RACE does, pretty cool.

I do have a soft spot for that last font as it takes me back to the first Ducatis I saw - the guy who taught me to ride a bike had an old 900SS and a Darmah both in black with gold accents and the logo in that font.

I also liked when the R actually came with carbon bodywork and it was red but the black parts, including the logo, were simply exposed carbon - it looked normal but the details revealed something a bit cooler beneath the surface.

Vulturebike made a modern version of exactly that, but they want a ridiculous $8k for them.

Beautiful though.

They must have seen the Ducati tax and doubled it...

Bloody google eh…. 🙄

How was I supposed to know it had eccentrics? There’s no mention of this anywhere on their site and Steven didn’t mention it. You’re welcome for enlightening you, you ....... clueless twats (you know who you are)…

I like the 70/80's 900ss bevel drive graphics also. The four stripes below Ducati on the tank are integral. Comes as one decal. The only other decals on those is the smaller DESMO that sits on the rear fairing edge, its match on the bum stop and a small made in italy behind the gas cap. Talk about a slow steering motorcycle even with inch over shocks and the front dropped so the fairing touches the front fender under braking (about as steep as you can make these) takes a tug. Great motor, good brakes and a seriously clunky gearbox.

Lovely things.

Back when I had my FZR600R and I was capable of scraping pegs (primarily due to a crossed-up riding style - Doohan was my hero) my mate used to think it was hilarious to smack me on the arse as he went around the outside of me through a bend on his Darmah with his girlfriend riding pillion... He was a pretty good rider (all that practice evading capture) but I was still impressed that the bike could do it in addition to looking and sounding amazing.

They work pretty good. Great spread of torque. The Darmah's had better ignition than the earlier 900's. So they were easier to start. The early ones had this weird Ducati electronic ignition. Feeble spark (yellow) at kickstart speed. So two kicks mostly. 2 squirts from the accelerator pumps. Bring it around and then throw all your weight on it. But if you over wetted the thing just go have another beer.
