Side mount is the way to go but unfortunately I can’t do that with the radiator I have on my bike.

As far as the change, MATRIS is a way better steering damper, better quality, better technology. It’s speed sensitive and has its own gas reservoir so you can set it so it turns relatively lightly at low speeds but then if you have a tank slapper event it ramps up the damping dramatically the faster the bars are moving.

Having said all that, after having changed so much on the bike there is a reason I haven’t changed the steering damper until now, because upgrading a steering damper is not some big significant upgrade that matters alot. It’s a safety feature, and the Ohlins unit is fine for that.

It’s a VERY good idea if you can get one to put the Kratech steering damper bracket on the bike if you aren’t going to a side mount configuration, because the frame tab that holds the steering damper on is remarkably fragile and is prone to braking off the subframe even on a minor low side event, then you’re done until you get a new subframe installed. The Kratech bracket re-enforces the damper connection to the subframe.

The reason I finally upgraded my damper was that the wires leading to my electronic Ohlins damper were getting rubbed through by one of my reservior brackets, and I felt like my damper was intermittently not working, and that’s a safety issue, so I just pulled the trigger on a better made unit with better adjustability that’s manual click.

Not really a ‘needed’ upgrade, but feels good knowing it’s there.

If you can do a side mount setup that is the best way to go though, not that hard to do unless you have the H20 Radiator in the way 😅

Thanks a lot Steven, appreciate all the info and advice.

I am surprised you have such crazy brake setup and a $300 master...? Why not get a proper master?

Because the 17 RCS Corsa Corta IS the right MC for my calipers.

The the 18-20 Corsa Corta is not correct for my caliper.

The brakes FEEL exactly how I like them to and I don’t wanna mess with that.

Also if I remember right I think it was $700?

If you have a better brake MC you recommend I’m open to exploring it.

Maybe not.

The problem is that he wants a 17 which they dont make in the regs Billet master for $600. XA7G7D0 is WSBK Moto GP level kit.

Everyone who goes with the RCS 17, which is forged IIRC, seems to rave about it. Is the billet stuff that much better?

And is the RCS 17 actually better than stock? I recall RickD996 racing and preferring the standard master cylinder.

Am I right in saying the standard bore is 16mm? There are billet 16mm master cylinders out there at about £500, although the blurb says "for single disc applications". Any views on that?

OEM is 16, and I think people go for the RCS 17 to get rid of how spongy the brake lever can feel. I thought about going with the RCS 17 (non Corsa Corta) but I think that means I have to sort out switches etc.

It's a bit spongey with the 16, but endless bleeding has helped it be bearable at least. I find it OK, reasonably progressive and decent feel, but I'm sure it can be improved (still running ABS).

The 17 RCS Corsa Corta is way better than stock, the stock unit feels so spongy I can’t use it after the 17RCS Corsa Corta.

Karl I just sold a $1500 rear MC in that line that I bought and never put on the bike lol.

I think Endo bought the one you mentioned, and raved about it

The Corsa Corta version has a lot of adjustability to really dial in how you want it to feel…having said that, I always run it in R mode, so now Karl has me with my thumb hovering over the add to cart button lol
