I’m actually more active on the panigale threads but i wanted to make an official post here on the development of the bren tuning flash for the streetfighter v4. First and foremost I’m running
Arrow exhaust
Sprint filter
T800 upmap performance tune
I had no error lights of any kinds but wanted some more. I didn’t care for the way the upmap felt bumming around the gas mileage was terrible like 25mpg bad. Plus the throttle response is wonky
i had been in contact with bren for a hot min since i got the bike. A .... ton of locals run him and I’ve only heard one negative story, that was real , not Chinese telephone story. Now let’s get to the interesting part
First impressions weren’t good because they want you to pull the BBS fuse, because they’re tuning the abs system as well. Not the end of the world but not exactly plug & play. But as far as the tuning. I’m still on my base map as of today and I’m sure that’ll change here because it needs a lot of work. I also followed shiv at open flash it took him a long time to get his streetfighter dialed in over 6 months. So right off the back my general error light “ i do have a tail tiddy” and DWC, abs light is flashing. Once again not surprising because they told me flat out they’re having issues with getting the errors
Lights to go away. I’ve been in the automotive tuning world for years so okay whatever. Meanwhile i ride about 4-500 miles, to test this base map first let’s get the cons out of the way
1) engine breaking is flat out broken, the throttle transition, is throwing a code “cel for torque management ” on setting 1 “lightest engine breaking” and on 3 the bike is jerking if i give it any throttle while it’s engine breaking. This i know they will fix because these new ecus are load based. And trust me they don’t want this tune being like this at launch
2) fix the error lights
3) quick shifter going down needs some fine tuning
4) cold start needs some work it surges a little bit
now you may sit here and go wow frack that lol. But this is very common when doing early tuning, for me my biggest disappointment has been the customer service. Once again they told me they’re slammed and short handed. This to me is the biggest issue, these are major issues that Need work, plus don’t forget i paid for this. Now let get into the pros and wrap this up for today
pros
1) at wot it’s considerably faster, now I’ve seen some dyno graphs from other V4 owners that show brens tune makes the same & maybe 4-6whp more than the akra tune. This is a false sense of power because it’s very apparent they got rid of all of the throttle restrictions. So even if their tune made less power it would still be faster because the bike would be at 100% throttle for longer. This is why the new cbr1000RR is a dog out of the box
2) the quick shifter is OP now with upmap it was absolutely terrible, even with a wheel calibration. The down shifts needs faster kill time but that’s about it otherwise it’s on point
3) General rideability is considered will be better, Especially in the low end and mid range
4) mpg is much better 30-33, so about stock
So here is the plan i will update this thread with any major updates at the end of the month it is going to see the Dyno. Right now today I cannot recommend their tune right now but once it is finished and they get all the bugs done yes I highly recommend it.
