You know.. the one that's done it all or who knows everything..

At my shop there's this guy who doesn't have a bike but hes currently looking and right now hes set on a Suzuki DR350... Not a bad bike.. But now he continues to tell me how he is going to leave me behind on our rides and that hes gonna teach me how to ride.... at first I found this strutting to be mildly amusing.. Now I am finding it mildly annoying:rolleyes:... Forgive me.. I just needed to share this ....

As a joke, funny at first like you said. If serious... well... wow, I would get annoyed by the stupidity as well... I can't even comprehend how someone could think that...

In a similar story, I had a guy at work with a "Hemi" Durango say he could beat me in a drag race.

IGNORE and upgrade the company you let near yourself!

Yeah... without AR its definitely a warmer place... I think RSR Racer still partakes... He likes movies I guess

lol, was at the bike night last night, with my buddy (S1000RR) after 3 hours up in the twisties, where i lost him after 3 corners, every time.

so at the bike night, a guy walks up and asks, "which one is faster?"
i ask back, what do you mean, bike or rider? :D

I think too many people are convinced that because we ride a big bore bike, we are making up for lack in skill. This preconceived notion gets in their head and they think they can beat us down with a dirtbike :D lol.

I had a guy that came in the unit halfway through our tour in Afghanistan. He was a greenhorn for sure. So, this guy fell asleep on guard duty (usually a dishonorable discharge if you fall asleep on guard duty in a combat zone) so he was at our main headquarters base to see the battalion commander. He starts chatting everyone's ear off like he is the coolest guy in the place. After a while he starts trying to talk to me, to which I want to ignore, but he asks me what I do. Well, I fix our 12, M777A2 howitzers that we use to kill the enemy, I ensure that they keep shooting by repairing and transporting parts... but that't not what I told him :D I said "Oh... I just sit here in this chair all day and watch t.v." He starts asking me all kinds of stupid questions and I give him stupid answers back. One includes "Do you know what an M777A2 is??" (Mind you we are entirely an artillery battalion, it'd be like asking an infantrymen what a rifle is...") I reply "M777A2? What's that? Sounds complicated." He starts explaining to me how it works and such... I give him a blank stare and all the officers and NCO's are rolling in their chairs at this guy. He finally shuts up after he notices what is going on and says "Ok, what am I missing here?" Then I break the news that I am the head battalion mechanic. He stopped asking questions after that.

I'll tell you a trick, which you might already know. The !Kung tribe in Africa used to have young men go and kill large animal for the tribe to eat. They would try to bag the biggest one they could find. Once they killed it they would go back to the tribe to get tribes people to help them get it back. The whole way they would tell the story about how big it was and how everyone was going to thank them and such... once they got there the tribes people would say things like "You brought us out all this way for a bag of bones?? It is tiny! We need to kill another just to feed everyone for the day!" Even though it might have been big, they said this to deter them from thinking they were better than someone else in the tribe. So next time you see this guy, have him take you to his bike and ask him "You brought me out to see this old beater bike?? THIS is what you want to beat me on? Let me go get my sons minibike so it will be a fair race..." then start pointing out all the things "wrong" with it. See how he feels then ;)

Well I ride with a bunch of guys with Sport Bikes ranging from 1199 Mts Diavel S1000rr Cbr1000.. and this guy wants to ride with us...
... and of course beat all comers... Do I bring him along and risk the ire of my group by bringing this ...... or do I let him learn a lesson???

are you in the business of teaching everyone lessons? let the right one in and make sure he or she ain't a vampire/moron/etc.

I prefer to let my riding speak for itself. People end up wanting advice or think your cool...Im kinda quiet tho

It never gets old though...my brothers and I are retired racers, up there in age. We show up at trackdays limping to the riders meeting, all those young kids with ripped abs look at us through their nostrils and then the fun starts.
They don't look at us the same way at the end of the day, some take it well whereas others get really angry.

On an other note, spent a week in Switzerland last fall, went riding with a 68 year old guy who nursed a leg he broke not long ago and had to pull out all the stops to keep up with him.....

I have turned up at rides seeing old guys with basically no gear and beater bikes... I always give them respect cos I know they will beat my ... out there on the streets... I rode with an older doctor with a Rc36... Whilst I could keep up he rode the crap outta that thing and it was one of the best riding days I have had in a while...
