DQS not working on downshifts

Can't believe it took them until 2022 to add more cooling ducting down by the QS. Mine gets so hot on track that when you pull in you can smell it
and see smoke coming off the insulation or wiring for a minute or two. This is a MY21 with the insulated module

I went through and taped everything down there including wires and the sensor itself with high quality reflective heat tape. I know its only a bandaid, air ducting is the real fix.

I've been riding without the side and lower fairings while I was working through my QS issue. When I put them back on the heat came back too with a vengeance.

I tried the Cordona. It was appalling.

Four times more expensive, worse cut times, failed first time I used it.
How in the hell do you screw up a Cordona? Damn things are bulletproof. Did you smoke the logic box? The correct way to secure the logic box on any QS is to locate it on an isolation panel. Next best solution is to use Insultherm. Insert the box into a 2” piece of Insultherm and use heat activated adhesive shrink wrap on both ends. Done. The box barely gets warm.

Maybe they just work better on the xx99 bikes. The "420Speciale" or "420Evo" is the Cordona for the V4 bikes and the V2/Multistrada/ new Streetfighters etc.

Rick's experience mirror's my own. My Cordona is in perfect condition, no damage etc., I just don't like it. As is, its way too sensitive for me with no way to adjust it. IMO, its not a cut time problem, its a sensitivity problem. First time I tried shifting with it on a 1-2 shift it fell flat on its face.

I was going to sell it but I feel like I'd be dumping a less than optimal part on someone.

Weird. I found the Cordona to be excellent and as good as this BSD unit that came with my Marelli kit. Super crisp in all gears and precisely predictable.

The HM is the one to get to replace a stock up/down Ducati QS. You can adjust the sensitivity but now you're at that $600 price point.

No problem with installation.

Cordona replaced under warranty as it had a manufacturing defect.

Stock shifter was noticeably better. Shifts were smoother and unsettled the bike less.

i have a theory, but its just a theory..
is it possible that QS system is taking readings from wheel speed sensor, forward speed, engine rpm, throttle position, tire rollout, etc etc and comparing to a table somewhere and if the readings dont match a set of criteria, it simply doesnt allow the down QS because in essence its confused and doesnt know what to do so it does nothing.
again just a theory

Completely plausible, if not very likely. The bad part is now that my bike is working fine, I can't log bad data. I may do a quick run while its working so I can compare any future problematic sensor logs to a known good one.

HAAA ..aint it always like that.. you can never have too much information,
ive had mine for 3 months and still havent gotten to ride it even 1 ft. im still puttin it back together from a semi full teardown (from previous owner doin very bad things too it).. then i gotta convert to right hand controls.. but im reading up on the problems i should expect, and how to take care of them... thanks all of you for the knowledge you put up that comes from your grief and frustration, it helps everyone and makes our lives easier, i look forward to contributing.

Well, my issues started when I went to a -1 in the front and still had the OEM in the rear, so I don't think it is the +1 (44t) in the rear. I will give the +1 front and +1 rear a try again when I get the energy to mess with it. Honestly, this is a really jacked-up issue. Oh, and I still have my throttle spacers installed (never had QS issues with spacers when gearing was OEM nor with my current +1 front). I am tired of working on this thing.

NOTE: +1 front and +1 rear is reallllllly fun around town!
I have these same issues. I'm -1 front and +1 rear. I'm going back to stock on the front as I've heard changing the front is a common cause of QS issues. I may try +2 rear since I do like the ratio and this should be close enough.

During my troubleshooting process I went back to the OEM gearing. I had went -1 in the front, but the QS worked after that. Only after I took it in for service did I have any problems. Now that its sorted, I went back to -1 in the front and the QS still works.

Yeah, and I went from -1 front to OEM and the QS started working.....and then stopped again. :( I don't know what the issue is, but stock gearing does not appear to be a permanent fix. For now, I have just stopped riding the V2 and started enjoying my other bikes more.

The only thing I think I would have done different is to reset all of the adaptives when resetting the tire/final drive calibration to default then running it again.

Man I wouldn't stop riding the bike because of this issue, that would be sad. Ducati Omaha has the replacement sensor in stock, its only $125 shipped. Part # 55215484C
