There are two dealers in the DC Metro area each getting two of these. One called to tell me I can put a refundable deposit on one. What is a guy to do?!?! It's a great bike but there are nicely modded used 1299S to be had. One even has a full Ducati Performance exhaust system on it.

a guy should wait. this thing will be in the dealer with sales people begging you to take it. just like the sl and everything else put out. its not over sold and the r is a better buy for around 30k .

i would never ever pay retail for anything ducati puts out.

You know me Mark. First to get the 1199s Tricolore remember?

Just placed my deposit and intent for the 90th Anniversary Tri Bike! ;)

Did anyone of you buyers get a confirmation yet?
@Gunny: You're kidding, aren't you? :) :)

Other than SPS and Race-Homologation-Spec bikes, Special Editions tend to be pretty underwhelming (think Matrix or Tron). But this Anniversario edition is something I keep coming back to drool over. Well done, TJ.

What kind of deposits are you guys putting down? My dealer offered to hold one for me if I put down a $3,000 non refundable deposit. I find that to be obscene...

I put down $500, that was all my dealership asked for.

UK bikes sold out. My dealer had six orders within 20 minutes of launch; likely 5 will be disappointed.

Agreed. Most of the time it is just different decals or a paint job. Sometimes you might get a different slip-on exhaust. But they are usually nothing more than a bike that looks a lil different, just for marketing purposes.

The biggest exception is the 2006 R1 Limited Edition. That bike came with Forged Marchesini wheels, Ohlins suspension, racing Slipper Clutch, stuff like that.

Man, if I wasn't trying to buy a house right now I'd be upgrading!

Im not sure what bike you have now, but if someone has a 2015+ 1299S, I wouldn't consider this bike an "upgrade". The only performance advantage/improvement it has is the EVO electronics (and it has been stated they can be flashed to current 1299's). Aside from that you get a few CF trinkets, a lighter battery and an exhaust, but it isn't even the racing/competition version of the exhaust...it is the OEM version that still has to meet noise and emissions standards. And you can get a lightweight battery anywhere.

If someone currently has a 1299S, they won't realize a gain in performance (read: lap times) with this model. And personally, I don't care about the "x of 500" etching or any of that kind of stuff. I buy bikes for what they can do on the track, and this one won't be any better than my current one that is already race prepped.

If somebody wants to get one because they think they look cool, or might be a collectors item at some point, I totally get that. But if somebody already has a 1299 (and especially a 1299S), they shouldn't get one thinking "I will be faster on this Anniversary model"...because they won't. I would bet a paycheck on it.

Where are you getting your info? The Anniversario comes with Akra racing slip-ons, i.e. not homologated, i.e. no noise/emissions compliance necessary. So those save some weight and are a bit more free flowing.

Speaking about the exhaust system, the 1299 already has an excellent one as OEM. Same diameter pipes, 60mm, as a "full racing" system. So honestly with this bike slip-ons are pretty damn good, you save a little bit of weight by going to full ti pipes as the Akra full race, but you're not going to get a big performance improvement from more flow.

Do the homologated slipons look the same as on the 1299S (with the black covers)? I couldn't find a picture.

TJ99,is this the case also with the 1199? Have oem setup Tricolore and it sometimes miss a beat at low revs, can be disturbing "full" on at track. Just curious if full system Termi,(new style) with a proper map can cure this tendency? Or can it be the quickshifter's fault?

Just placed my deposit for one at Fay Myers in Denver... Can't wait!

Since this is pretty much a Panigale S, is it safe to assume that the rear seat and pegs are included as well?

The 1299S is a street-legal bike and hence has to obey to noise/emission regulations or otherwise it couldn't be sold. Thus, unless the bike would come with two exhaust systems, it can't be the non-street-legal racing exhaust.

To answer your question (even though I won't know whether Chris got this information there as well), you can find the information on the official Ducati website:

Ducati said:
'2 in 1 in 2' system with catalytic converter and 2 lambda probes. Twin stainless steel mufflers with aluminum end caps.

Lol another uninformed member.

TJ99 is the product manager for all panigales n hypermotards at the ducati factory. It would be a safe bet to trust his word.
