I Took the BMW out for a 3 Hour ride on Thursday. The bike was very electric. Absolutely no feelings for me. I love my Panigale . No matter how fast or slow I am riding in it, it gives all kinds of sensations, character.

It is something that really suits me and makes me feel great when I am riding my Panigale and it is something that my previous S1000rr didn't have (despite the fact that was still a great bike)

I see, I too have had an S1000RR. It was a great bike with incredible power. Above 10k it was absolutely crazy! My only gripes is it vibrated like crazy between 3 and 8k, and super bad a 3 to 5k. It would easily put my hand to sleep in 15 minutes. It also did not change directions all that well. I traded it in for an RSV4 and it was night and day. Way better handling and no crazy vibes.

Out of curiousity what model/year Aprilia?

Own a 16 1299 S and 15 s1000rr (with ddc).
You neer both...period
The rr is the bike that makes you fall in love with superbikes.
You need superbike experience and ducati L twin experience to truly love the 1299s.
the advice is to get the rr first then graduate to the 1299 S.

2010 BMW S1000RR
2013 Aprilia RSV4R

I put heavy bar ends on both. The Aprilia is the smoothest cycle I've owned. I could ride all day and be fine.

On the BMW it got heavy bar ends and grips, and the grips are difficult to change. It was better and livable and didn't put my hand to sleep any more.

As for handling I put carrozerria's on the BMW and that did make a difference, but the front was still a little vague to me. RSV4 was on the original cast rims and although it was heavier, it turned and handled better.

Both bikes suspension's were setup for my weight.

Another major difference is the ergo's on the BMW were tough. I bars had a crazy downward angle and it made the reach a little long. The RSV4 has a slightly more upright seating position. The 16's RSV4's have a little better ergo's than the 13's.

The 1299 by comparison definitely vibes more than RSV4, but since both are v's its more of a rumble. The BMW's inline 4 has a high frequency buzz that is unmistakeable.

The 1299s is light and turns and changes direction better than both. Ergo's are on par with RSV4, with a little better windscreen protection.

Hey! I currently have a 2015 1299 Panigale S. I'm a hp freak and wants most pull and punch. Sold my "˜09 R1 because I felt it pulled to lame. Tried the S1000RR 2015 and LOVED the top end power. Then I got the opertunity to by a 1299 and I took the shot. Now I miss the crazy pull the Bimer had. That beeing said, I'm not shure if the Pani pulls lamer. I haven't ridden them back to back, so since you own both bikes I must ask you: - which pull hardest?

Other important considerations would be feel and sound. Those are what won me over. I think Yamaha like other Japanese dealers are tougher about demos but BMW and Ducati dealers are pretty good about it. It helps to have a credit card for a damage repair with the Japanese makes.
