one would expect a reach around for a three hundred dollar oil change
That advice was given to me by my dealer that was working with Ducati, but I do agree do not take my advice please always check with a professional Ducati dealer (Maybe one that has a good reputation and can get advice from their racing group).I'm not 100% in agreement with that advice. I know a popular track rider here mentioned it but I think he had another problem which was corrected, IIRC. Hopefully someone can chime in with more info.
With high RPM engines, any little bit of oil starvation is a catastrophe.
With all due respect fellas, its2022. If you were born with a functional nut sack and you are paying for someone to change your oil just go ahead and get the gender reassignment .... over with cause your half way there already. ....... A, the lack of ability in males today is staggering no wonder the dealers can get away with the dog .... service, look at the alternative. A little dirt on the hands isn’t going to kill ya, just don’t wear your best Sunday dress.
I just recently had an oil change from Ducati on my 21 panigale v4, theh overfilled my oil so much. Currently took 14oz of oil out and the sight glass is still completely filled w/ oil . Gonna keep taking more out tomorrow, anyone else go through this w/ Ducati ?
Just got mine back, mentioned all this to the service rep when I dropped off thebike, guy all but insulted me, telling me no customer has ever mentioned this issue on any bike and assured me their top mechanic with 20 years experience knows how to put oil in a bike. "My mistake for questioning their expertise". I pick the bike up, get home after a 40min ride just to discover the bike was overserviced. I call to let the dealership know and same service guy asks how I know the bike is overserviced, I condensendingly (at this point in my frustration) replied by explaining to him what a sight glass is.. you can imagine how that went. Now to begin the draining process.
$430 for a service that can't be done right even when you spell it out for them.. confidence inspiring...
Rant over.
