Ducati oil change

Lol. Too much BGH and BPA leads to pussification.

The manual says a gallon on the V2 but after draining overnight, it takes a little over 3.25 quarts.

I'm not 100% in agreement with that advice. I know a popular track rider here mentioned it but I think he had another problem which was corrected, IIRC. Hopefully someone can chime in with more info.

With high RPM engines, any little bit of oil starvation is a catastrophe.
That advice was given to me by my dealer that was working with Ducati, but I do agree do not take my advice please always check with a professional Ducati dealer (Maybe one that has a good reputation and can get advice from their racing group).

I just recently had an oil change from Ducati on my 21 panigale v4, theh overfilled my oil so much. Currently took 14oz of oil out and the sight glass is still completely filled w/ oil . Gonna keep taking more out tomorrow, anyone else go through this w/ Ducati ?

Just got mine back, mentioned all this to the service rep when I dropped off thebike, guy all but insulted me, telling me no customer has ever mentioned this issue on any bike and assured me their top mechanic with 20 years experience knows how to put oil in a bike. "My mistake for questioning their expertise". I pick the bike up, get home after a 40min ride just to discover the bike was overserviced. I call to let the dealership know and same service guy asks how I know the bike is overserviced, I condensendingly (at this point in my frustration) replied by explaining to him what a sight glass is.. you can imagine how that went. Now to begin the draining process.

$430 for a service that can't be done right even when you spell it out for them.. confidence inspiring...

Rant over.

It's pretty pathetic they can't even do an oil change right. I hate having to rely on other people to do things for me, so I do most of the maintenance on my bike. I had the Ducati shop check my valves last go around but I don't have much confidence in them after hearing all these horror stories online.

Servicing on any new bike is pretty basic, its essentially changing fluids, pads, filter- the consumables and checking fastenings. All within the capability of anyone with the inclination to do it and most people with bikes have mates who are either in the the trade or skilled enough to to advise them. Do your own desmo as well, take your time buy the tools and some places will even supply a shim kit and refund you for what you havent used when you return it. Where I live its a 2k job with the rest of the service, that buys a lot of special tools! Hoping that OBDstar will be able to reset service lights by the time i get there. Sure if you dont have the time or space to work on the bike use a shop but part of ownership for me is doing the maintenance.

love it, thats some funny ..... but fukin true. when i change mine i just drain it out and fill what the manual says and its perfect. i still got the 600 mile light on cause i'm not going to the dealer unless its beyond me. at 2000 miles so far and love this bitch. my 4th duck.(888,996,999) and have never had a hicup with any of them.

They always overfill …most of them ….my buddy called them and they sent the mechanic to his house to drain and refill to appropriate level .It all depends on how much noise you make …this is a top dollar bike and we need top service …no excuses …period!
