Everything was brand new, could be coatings, weld berries, etc. interacting with the fuel. Wasn't spitting anything out under power, and motor sounded very clean.

Comparing the torque curves to the R:
The R makes about 75 ft-lb at 5000 rpm, then starts falling away at 5200; falls away to about 65 ft-lb at 7000. It takes until 8000 to recover to 75 ft-lb. You feel that when you exit a turn in a high gear.
SL makes 75 ft-lb but it doesn't really drop off until 6000. It's back by 7000, then goes nuts at 8000. The valley is only half as wide on the SL, and it only drops to 70.
I think this will translate to a lot more useable drive on the track, because although both bikes make 70 ft-lb @ 7000, you'll get 80 ft-lb by 8000 on the SL, while the R will give 75 at 8000. So 8% more thrust there as you roll on. Then the SL carries 92 ft-lb to almost 10,500, while the R makes 86, but starts dropping away at 10000.

i think most of the sl curves I've seen have been fairly consistent around 191-192. . which is kind of strange since ambient factors also play a role in dynos. . Either that - or all the dyno's have some sort of limit around 191-192 rwhp that the SL is bumping up against - haha. ..

At West lake Ducati they have been consistant at 195. I was told that its fueling is like crap at low speeds. Just like any World Super Bike

Looks like anyone with an R needs the high-lift intake cams from the SL (exhaust cams are same across all 1199 models). $734 each, no too bad really. Also need the SL pistons, $1041 each, meh. Send your crank to Ben Fox to get it "superleggerized" and BAM you'll have a similar chart!
Forgot about the tune to make it all come together. RapidBike Race Module to the rescue!

Its cheaper than Akra/Termi full system and you get waaay more power.
The R already has a full termi system, so no reason to change that, go for the power! Because we all know, more power is what the R really needs, it's kind of "weak" with only 177 at the wheel......

Yes, I see the ECU has a special sticker on it. It looks like the SL comes on hard right before it hits the rev limit. Anybody think it's good for another 500 rpm?
Sure, if you don't need any more warranty, I'm sure you can get another 500 rpm and maybe another 3 hp!
Ti exhaust valves and setting of the squish area will be needed too.

What's Ben doing to the crank ? We had similar ideas of machining the sides off adding weight into the base similar to the SL . I can see this as being a improvement on how the bike will rev other than increasing HP.
Other than adding pistons in a regular motor I think a set of customs rods that are slightly longer to reduce squish would be a advantage .
Any thoughts ?

Have just done this to my R motor and added titanium inlets as well will be interesting to get it back on the dyno to see what sort of improvements have been made
