Ducati Superleggera Dyno versus Ducati 1199R

Yes, my point is that the tune and exhaust is already done well out of the crate. I do hear there's a new 'R flash from Ducati so maybe that'll roll in some of the sweetness from the SL tune...

Here is mine I'm using rexxer and I also have the MWR filter but unsure if it adds anything.

The graph is nice and linear which I'm really happy with with no flat spots and when riding the bike pulls really cleanly

a tune from ducati won't help, i would assume the tune has some fix points which ducati can't work around (for example emissions), you are never going to get the best tune from ducati it is a band-aid fix in my opinion

To look at hp numbers on a dyno is kinda stupid. There are way too many variables to take into consideration. The only thing someone should really focus on when tuning n then doing a dyno run is the comparison from a baseline to what it ends at. A person could be on a lower reading dyno n put out 175hp on their R compared to an inflated dyno that may read 185hp on a base or S model. Gained hp is the only thing that matters unless someone cares about a dick measuring contest.

Do a baseline run, install mods and then get a tune. Compare and voila....your gained hp should be all that's discussed, not an inflated 230hp dyno read :)

R1 anyone?

Sounds like it's out. I'm not an expert on how the factory rolls out s/w updates, but in discussions with the techs, I've been told there's an update for mine. I don't know how widespread it is, nor have I had it installed. I'm going to try to get down there this weekend to see about loading it and I'll let ya know how it shakes out. If it helps, my bike is a '14 R with an October '13 build date. The s/w must be very new because we just checked my bike less than a month ago and every bit of s/w was current.

Wow, that's a pretty negative outlook on Ducat's software abilities. So you're saying that a s/w update for an R model with a Racing Evo map and the full Termi system needs to meet California emissions standards? And would this also mean that all of the ridability improvement on the SL over the 'R has zero to do with software?

Update

when is this R flash due out ¿ ¿ ¿ ¿

VAST, I lost track of this thread and forgot to reply. I had the update loaded a few weeks ago. It was titled something like "Recall FI DDS". It's unfortunate that Ducati doesn't list what the s/w rev is correcting when releasing it. :( Based on how the bike responds since the s/w load, it appears to be an improvement on starting, idling, and rough running. The bike now starts quicker and goes to a higher idle initially and then later lowers to a lower RPM. The bike also responds much better to throttle input accelerating from a stop making for better ability to manage clutch/throttle control from a stop to full clutch release. I can feel a clear delineation as the clutch lever nears full release and the micro-switch is released (I believe). It feels as if the map has been richened up and refined and then transitions to a leaner mix on clutch release. This is all speculation on my part about what they actually did in the update but I highly recommend it regardless. It adds a lot of rideability to the bike at very low throttle and from stops. Enjoy! :D

Sorry, been away from this for a while. That is precisely why I started the thread with an R and an SL dyno'ed back to back on the same dyno, same day, same calibration and I watched both. Otherwise, there is no comparing the two bikes.

The SL gets an advantage on the inertia dyno from a lighter wheel, but it also will have that advantage on the track, except times two for the front wheel that's not turning, plus the whole bike is lighter. Same power output would still result in the SL being faster for real.

I have both SL and R bikes. I ride the R pretty hard on the track. SL still scares me. Its fast.
