Dunlop Q3 Results/Feedback Etc

the size is 190/55 however there is a range that the size falls in and it falls into the 200/55 size as well so technically they could label it 200/55 if they wanted.

the reason it is not recommended is because of the load factor. so dunlop cannot legally recommend the tire for the pani.

price is 168.95 for the rear front is 109.95 total 278.9

245 for the supercosa rear front is 190 total 435

prices are from sportbike track gear
i know everybody can find them cheaper i was just doing an apples to apples comparison

That's really interesting regarding load ratings.

That in itself precludes the Dunlop from my shopping list.
The reason is that our transport authority state that one can not legally fit a tyre that's got a lower load rating than the original spec tyres the vehicle came with from factory.

That's what I reckon.
RTFM.

manual says to use shell 15w50 oil you cant that oil in the united states. the manual is for where something is how to turn on the brights when to change your oil. it is not for tire brand oil brand etc

Even if the lower load rating still exceeds GVWR of the vehicle? According to Dunlop website the Q3 load rating exceeds the GVWR stamped on the builder plate of my Pani.

What happens if the vehicle manufacturer switches to a different tire? I seem to recall that my '97 748 came with Michelins(?) and in later years they were shipped with Pirelli.

Not disputing you. Just curious to me why the regulation follows the tire and not the vehicle rating.

hes not in the US

Thanks for the update gman74. I'm coming up on a tire change in less than 1K miles and am in the same mental boat you were. Love the OEMs but a new set for about the price of a rear Supercorsa is too much to ignore.

Your review was the last straw I needed to go with Q3s. Now, who has the best price today?

Lastly, why are you not riding until Spring? I lived in Raleigh for 8 years and I rode almost all winter, as long as there wasn't ice on the ground.

I bought from STG for $279. And I really only track and/or ride at the Gap. The track that I ride is closed for the winter and it's way too cold in the mountains for me.

That part was understood. That's why I'm curious about the regulation.

You guys in the US can get away with a lot of things we can't.

I think the load rating rule only applies in my state, but then again it also may be tied to the most recent Australian Design Rules.

I think our authorities believe the vehicle load rating is a product of the functionality of the tyres.
So therefore the tyres are actually deemed to be a critical part of the equation.

Dunlop Sportmax Q3 Rear

Any one knows about this tire? Street ride and track? It will last longer?
What I have now is the Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa ( came with the bike )

Please let me know
Thanks guys!

As Mark mentioned, there is a wealth of information available on this tire.

Grab the 190/55, increase your ride height by 3.5mm, knock your TC down a few notches, and you're good to go.

absolutely correct. I have had the 200/50 and it really really adversely affects the TC. just put on the 190/55 q3 and it works awesome with the TC. DO NOT GET THE 200!!! and my q3's (I have had 3 rears) have lasted about 1k longer than the supercorsa's did. same riding area and style.

they dont make a q3 in 200 unless you get the 200/50 you dont want that. the q3 you want is the 190/55/17 rear tire. due to the 10 mm play labeling is a funny thing.

as i found out the 200 pirelli is actually 193 mm wide the dunlop 190 tire is actually 193.5 wide.

as far as the 1199 R goes my buddy has the 190/55/17 q3 rear tire on his no problems at all

same here! 190/55 q3 works perfect.

OK, I'm going to order the tire 190/55 q3... It looks like the dunlop is giving $40 off with a rebate coupon until April 30,2014 :)

For the Front they have 120/60ZR-17 and 120/70ZR-17 ( witch one should I get? )

I attached the coupon for all of you! Thanks a lot!
