Dunlop Q3 Results/Feedback Etc

quick question about the profile of the Q3 front tire. It's a fact that Dunlop normally makes more extreme front profile, more sharp in the center, this gives more support while leaning but make your front more "unstable" in acceleration on the straight. Anyone noticed that on the Q3?

Thanks

Do you have a coupon code, or is it a unique code after signing up with mrrebate?

Do you have a pic? I never used my previous pitbull stand in a trailer, but am interested in the set up....or are you talking about the add-on restraint bar?

go to the sight through mr. rebates will net you another 3% back. Not a coupon code but the money wont be accessible till for a couple weeks. We are talking about the add on restraint bar which I do not have but looks awesome

Do you guys know if the Q3's heat up as fast as the Rosso Corsa's or the Supercorsa SP V2's? I ride my bike daily and only have a 3-4 minute commute to work. I know the tire won't be at operating temp that quickly, but obviously I will favor the tire that gets as close to operating temp as possible in that short amount of time.

I would walk....:D

I don't think any tyre will warm up in 4 minutes....

Very true, but the tire that warms up the quickest will still offer better traction during my short commute than the one that takes a bit longer for its warm up.

Well not to string this out..But I am guessing there's no canyon riding involved in this 4 minutes??:D So not sure you have much to be concerned with....

Not aggressive carving, but I live in the hills and hit corners right away when leaving my house.

Generally speaking, how is the warm up on the Q3's? Quick like the Pirelli's or a bit slower like some of the Bridgestone products?

Pirelli does the same..... I have had a Q3 for around 3000 miles now.... I love it more every ride... I have never felt this tyre lacking or wanting in any circumstance.and it still has plenty of tread left...my Supercorsa would be well done by now (2400 mile tyre life for me)..So you can believe what you want about Dunlops testing and keep spending money on the Pirelli.... I for one will never go back to them and will always use Q3's ..well until the Q4 comes out at least...:)

+1 !!!!! same experience here man! im on my 3rd q3 rear.

I have noticed that on the street at least, the q3's offer much better cold traction right off the bat. warmed up, obviously they are both plenty sufficient on the street. they are 100x better in anything damp or wet.

Will be able to add my feedback to this thread this summer when I have to replace the Supercorsas. Just ordered mine, great discount price in the picture.

Rubber is harder when its cold and it takes a couple of miles for any DOT tires to come up to proper operating temp. I think the SP V2 are softer but I would not be going to max lean in the short time 3-4 min you ride with any of those tires in that short period of time. If you want to do some agressive riding on the way to work, I recommend you throw on some tire warmers before you leave for work.

Great idea about the tire warmers! In general, the softer the tire, the quicker the warm-up?

FYI - just saw a listing for a 2014 refresh for the Bridgestone S20 called the S20 EVO.

Bridgestone say... (and be sure to read the last line)

Battlax Hypersport S20 was the Motorrad(1) test winner in 2012 and 2013 – the highest praise a tyre can receive. But this hasn’t stopped Bridgestone from developing improvements to make Bridgestone’s n°1 hypersport tyre even better. Engineers have worked on the construction and compound, with the objective of extending rear tyre wear life and improving handling and cornering
grip at high camber angles.

The new Battlax Hypersport S20 EVO achieves these aims thanks to a tuned belt package (front) which increase stiffness, combined with a new compound featuring Bridgestone’s proprietary NanoPro-Tech™ technology which works at the molecular level to improve rolling resistance and wear life.

In-house testing(2) shows that Battlax Hypersport S20 EVO gives a 22% longer rear wear life than its predecessor, and noticeable upgrades in cornering stability, rear traction and front grip in both track and street conditions.

Battlax Hypersport S20 EVO will initially be available in one front size and four rear sizes in ZR range, available from March 2014.

Available sizes:
120/70 ZR 17 M/C S20F EVO (58W) TL
180/55 ZR 17 M/C S20R EVO (73W) TL
190/50 ZR 17 M/C S20R EVO (73W) TL
190/55 ZR 17 M/C S20R EVO (75W) TL
200/55 ZR 17 M/C S20R EVO (78W) TL

Whats the advantage of going with the Bridgestone vs Dunlop...???

Horses for courses really, and having run Q3's and the S20's it comes down to feel preference. I tend to like the feel of Bridgestone's softer carcass a wee bit more at street speeds, but Q3's are super-solid as well; just about to spoon on a fresh set. For the street and an occasional trackday either is plenty sufficient for anyone looking for an alternative to the OEM tire. As for the new S20 EVO, I can't say since I haven't ridden them, but the advertised changes look promising. Main thing was to point out they are releasing a 200/55.
