Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

thanks trans and as you know i didn't start this thread and also thanked the OP for pointing this out as i have 5000 plus miles on my bike and have to re oil my mwr filter so i will look for this.

of course the OP usually doesn't complain or if a guy like anti hero says something is wrong it has to be wrong (usually is by the way if he says it but i just used him as an example ) but if it isn't a so called tried and true ducati fan boy says it (as i am not) then he must be wrong. if the person doesn't believe ducati is the best motorcycle ever assembled then he must be ridiculed. Guess what i don't give a .... either way. As i said before this is my first and last ducati. the ownership experience sucks big time. never had one problem with my ninja. yet i know 5 guys that do have constant problems. i know guys on here that are tried and true members that i talk to regularly on the phone that want to dump their bikes but can't cause they can't get a decent price or they will and take the hit. most of you would be surprised to read who they are but not my place to say.

i complain cause for 30 k thats what an s is after taxes basically and slip ons and the extended warranty (which is a must have with this POS) in the US you get crap service and a bike thats in the shop constantly.

almost forgot when i am on the bmw forum where some of you guys are you will see you mention the 1199 they say beautiful bike or something like that thing looks amazing i hear its great. they don't flame it because they don't have to. proof is in the pudding. I know magazines don't mean a thing but i have never seen the 1199 or 1198 for that matter ever be the top bike. where is ducati (the company's) PRIDE. 8.5 k more than the s1000rr and the s1000rr was released in 2010 (i believe) ducati should be ashamed at their effort (much like audi should be ashamed with the rs5 that couldn't beat the outgoing M3). it the s1000rr was the best then and still the best now and ducati had 2 years to design something better. they couldn't so they came out with the R which is 13500 more than the s1000rr and 5 k more than the hp4. guess what still can't beat the beemer. now i know you will say the bmw is ugly(looks are subjective) or the bike has no soul but that is pure bs and used as a defense mechanism to justify your purchase. i got burned yes i did. won't happen again with ducati. Looks great but thats about it

most of you on here i said most not all need each other to reassure each other that the 1199 is great. i do not. i know what it is. its a great looking bike with great potential that wasn't tested correctly and put out to get sales. ducati thought this bike out fully half way and i will be damned if i find a problem and don't mention it when it can hurt somebody else because i might be called not a good ducati follower.

As for Stoner remember this ONLY GUY EVER TO WIN A MOTO GP CHAMPIONSHIP ON YOUR BELOVED BIKE. NOBODY ELSE CAN CLAIM THAT

finally there is a function that you can not see what i have to say or contribute to this forum. feel free to use it because i am not going anywhere and will continue to be hard on a company that promises quality and an ownership experience second to none when their product is significantly more money than the competition which is consistently better.

RANT over

Now you bring BMW into this discussion . I have had two of them but in which way are they better we can compare notes .
I am neither a brand loyalist have many different brands in fact I would still be on the BMW if it didn't fail me .
What I do recognise is when someone is being petulant other than being realistic .

If YOU had the issues I had with the S1000RR YOU would have handled things differently than I did same as your doing here .I didn't make a arse of myself on a BMW forum .

I cut my losses and moved on to a Panigale bikes not perfect but I never expected it to be either .I'm glad your staying as your the one who is looking foolish and will continue to do so .

Oh how this forum is getting boring. . . (yawn)

I just want sunny and 75 so I can ride

But in all honesty, are we even going to be surprised anymore when we find our bikes falling apart? Just wait until 1199's start to age, 3, 4, 5 or more years. Just wait.

With that said i'm gonna go back to looking at my bike and continue drooling :D

Someone who is not a spoiled little troll like two little kids I know.

Only thing I have to tell him is I hope he slows down and quits wrecking so much, you only have so many left LOL

I don't think you guys can keep yours upright commuting to Starbucks.

spoiled little kid i am 39 and do pretty well for myself not saying you don't but i work damn hard for my toys. if i were soiled i would just leave the 1199 in the street and get another one. things don't work like that. its obvious you live eat and drink ducati which is fine if thats who you are. i know a guy what wears 3 things ducati daily. a tee shirt a sweat shirt a zip up and puma underwear. that being said just cause i don't agree with you on the bikes performance doesn't make me spoiled.

if thats your opinion of me and you think I'm being foolish that is fine and you are entitled to your opinion. i think if a person wants a true opinion he or she will ask a guy like me cause i give it to you straight.

perfect example a guy with an r was at my stealership and asked me what i think of my bike. i said with a face it has its moments. he says everyone i ask that question makes the same face. his buddy has an hp4 was next to us and laughed.

You may not be spoiled, but you act like a kid and that's how your going to get treated with that piss poor whiney attitude.

You the one who controls this whole Ducati "ride" your on.

You must have woke up one day and asked why me? look in the mirror there is your answer.

I abused my 848 for 3 summers and lost 2 screws I replaced for 3 bucks at the hardware store. One was my fault for not using locktite after a oil change.

This 1199 I have 2 months of hard riding beating on it, I have had to adjust my chain and change oil, you think I should start thread and start crying now or later ?

I understand your frustration having had a few minor issues, but the way a man and a child deal with their frustration is what makes a man different from a boy. You are your own worst enemy.

Sometimes ownership does not always qualify you to review a product .
If someone asked me about my computer I would most likely make the same face but then again I know .... all about computers .

I'll wager that he was laughing out of embarrassment.
Deep down in his loins, he wished he could say that his HP4 could have the same sort of moments like one does with a DUCATI.

I've said it before Mark. Your not getting it.
If you were getting it then there wouldn't be any "moments".
It would instead of being fractured, there would be one long rewarding beautiful existence with your DUCATI.

I put it to you, that you really must work harder on your relationship with your magnificently glorious machine. You must learn to truly appreciate it.

We're here for you outhouse.
If you want to cry about it then go ahead. We're used to it now days.

Just a word of advise though.
If your starting to get your panties into a twist over a chain adjustment and an oil change. Then be prepared for also changing the oil filter at the OCI. Not to mention having to periodically change the Air Cleaner element and a valve adjustment for good measure.

Of course there's also the business of regularly putting air in the tyres and cleaning/lubing the chain:eek:
I know one shouldn't have to do those sorts of things now days, but even if you had a BMW, it would still be necessary.

I forgot.
You also should wash your bike from time to time:(

Rest assured we'll still be here for you:)

This might be useful, though no mention of it (blue) breaking down at 80 degrees C.

http://www.loctiteproducts.com/tds/T_LKR_BLUE_tds.pdf

Here's the data sheet for the red version, which is permanent, unless you heat the parts up to 260 degrees C!

http://www.loctiteproducts.com/tds/T_LKR_RED_tds.pdf

I didn't say "break down" in my post.
I said "it starts to break it's bond".

Let us please deal with facts.

In the workshop, if we want to separate parts that are typically bonded with Loctite (262) We use a heat gun to heat the part up to a minimum of 80 degrees C.
One will find that identical instructions (which clearly state a figure of 80 Degrees C) can be lifted straight out of the RSD sections in the BMW workshop manual as found in the computer.

Ask me how I know;)

I know Loctite says permanent up to 260 degrees C for the red, and to a large degree "in service" it is.
But even red will start to break it's bond at about 100 degrees C.
I could go on further about the subject as I've attended the Loctite mobile school that goes around to engineering workshops in order to educate people about the "proper use of their products".

I prefer Wurths products personally:D

You're expectations are too high my friend:(

You need a Piagio if you want that sort of performance.

Tell you what - I'll trade you expertise on anything you want to know about your computer for you returning the favor about turning a wrench on the Duc.

The fact that no one else's engine/frame bolts have sheared off or launched from Minneapolis into someone's eye 500 miles away would seem to suggest that the Panigale might not vibrate at some magical oscillation that renders surface tension between to objects null and void. My right nut (which might have been loosened by all the miles) is bet on this: someone ...... up the most basic of tasks. Bolts were improperly torqued at the factory. There's no ....... excuse for that. None. It's not an engineering issue, it's not a design failure. It's human error.
