@0260n25 and @EffeRed since you two are the only ones interested in buying the tool I suggest contacting Kyle Racing 831-394-1330 to purchase the complete kit and then we can work on your setup to get it perfect.

@roadracerx, now that I’ve got the proper suspension on my 959 and sag set to Ohlins recs.

Front
Free sag 29 mm
Sag 37 mm

Rear
Free sag 5 mm
Sag 28 mm

Comp/rebound are currently at Ohlins default. Did a trackday on RC2 tires and it was leaps and bounds better than the OEM suspension and Dave Moss setup. Track was Thunderhill West.

Chief complaint: front end vagueness

It feels like the front of the bike still wants to wash out mid-corner. Turn in is good. Stability under braking is good. But once in the turn in fast sweepers (turn 2) and off camber corners (turn 5-5a) it feels like the front is going to tuck. Maybe it’s just in my head or maybe my riding expertise/comfort with the bike isn’t there yet. It’s disturbing enough where I’m not using the full width of the tire and getting max lean.

Of note, on my 675 I was easily and confidently dragging a knee and the bike felt more predictable. I was able to catch small slides and front and rear.

One thing I did notice is that I wasn’t using the whole front fork travel. I forgot to measure but there’s probably 10-15 mm travel left (there’s also 5 mm of travel you can’t use).

Would decreasing compression/increasing rebound help? Or would decreasing trail by increasing fork height help? Or maybe increase rear shock length (V2 which supposedly better handling has a shock 3 mm longer)?

Curious of your thoughts. Thanks!

@rac1ngsnak3 your front bike sag should be 40 mm, you may need a stiffer spring in one side with less preload. The rear bike sag should be 10-15 mm with 30 mm rider. What is RC2 tires? What did Dave have to say about the front end vagueness?

I should’ve mentioned I’m 1 turn out from no preload w 9.5 springs in both legs. I’ll dial a little more preload out of the rear.

RC2 = Rosso Corsa 2. Plan is to go to Supercorsa SP next year

Stopped going to Dave after my setup w OEM suspension was awful w his recs. And I don’t like his gruffness.

@rac1ngsnak3 given you have so little preload you might consider softer springs with more preload - I don't usually hear a rider complain the front feels vague but I can tell you that the front end will pop off of a turn better with 5-7 turns of installed preload. This should also get you to the front bike and rider sag we are looking for....where are your rebound and compression settings? Rosso Corsa 2 are fine tires - what pressures are you using on track and are you noticing any strange tire wear?

Hi I have a V2 and just did my first track day in 6 years on it. Its stock everything.
Looking for some advice about the rear (image attached), Pirelli Rosso Corsa 2, I ran 30/30 psi. Does the wear look ok? or do I need to change any settings? worrying about cold or hot tearing but I cant tell. Thanks.

@Knackers For street I would run 33 front and 28-30 rear. Track I would run the same in front and maybe try going down to 26 rear. Tire looks good.

You can't be serious. The tyre doesn't look good.
Here is a problem in the damping adjustment.

@bu2tler I respectfully agree to disagree. The picture of the Rosso Corsa II from @Knackers post just above DOES in fact look perfectly fine. As he said, the tire was used on track and this melting of the surface rubber is exactly what I expect to see after track use. I don't see any rebound, hot or cold tear. What is it that you see in that picture that would indicate to you that a problem exists?

@roadracerx not, it does not. I have briefly marked a few places. It doesn't matter whether it's on the road or on the track.

@bu2tler I've read some of your other posts, troll much? There is no issue with the tire, period. Funny you have not offered a suggestion. Is there a raised or lowered lip on those sipes, no there is not. The shoulder and middle of tire compound changes in that area.

I’d concur w roadracerx (not that he needs it). His track record here is pretty spot on.

@Knackers How does the bike feel? Any quibbles?

@bu2tler like I said before, you have offered nothing here, go cast your shadows of doubt elsewhere. This is a thread intended to help others.

@roadracerx read with care. The answer is above. As I wrote there is a problem in the damping adjustment. The tyre pattern is not good. Where exactly have I marked on the picture.

Now @Knackers has to find out which one. A good starting point is rebound damping. OEM rebound setting on V2 damping is too soft.
@roadracerx with your experience you should know that.

Rx is on right, to the inexperienced eye it appears like tearing but if you look closer its just a bit of mouse poo. Also the OP said it was the first TD in a while so he is just feeling his way around as evidenced but the wear limit. All good, when he gets into it some more then maybe we will see some wear patterns that need addressing but for now I would also agree with Rx's pressure recommendations

I think hot pressure you’re aiming for is 29 psi at the track for Rosso Corsa 2s.

Thanks for everyone's replies, wasn't expecting such a response.

I did try 31 front and 26 rear in the first session, no warmers and it was a cold day 16C. Front felt fine the rear just felt flat throughout session, I probably wasn't going fast enough to generate heat. I checked the rear after the first session and it was 3.5 psi higher at 29.5.

I had already stiffened up my shock and forks, so not set at stock factory settings. I'm 90kg with gear, so if anyone has settings for stock V2 I can give them a try.

I've only ridden inline fours Fireblades and Gixxers, so still getting used to the V2 and going fast again etc.

Phillip Island is next so I'll try 31 and 26 again

Some better images of front and rear
