Fuel Reserve Trip Issue

Ever since I got the bike I have been having issues with the fuel light and reserve trip coming on and disappearing only after a few seconds. I already asked my dealer and they said they will look into it. I thought it would have gone away after the first service, but still no luck. Anybody have similar problems? Solutions?

I will try to post a video when I get a chance.

Thanks

Mine will reset and when I'm low and fuel and it sloshes around in the tank. It happened on my 748 as well.

I've noticed mine do that on a number of occasions, usually when moving slow or at a stop on a downhill when the tank's less than half full. Back on level ground and it returns to normal, and soon enough the fuel light comes on to stay on level ground. My operating assumption was just that the sensor's in the rear of the tank. Can't say I've seen it on a full or nearly so tank.

As above only happens when low on fuel, couple of times then stays on, most ive done is 16 miles with light on

I thought it was from the fuel splashing around at first but I have a friend that has the same bike and we both ride together yet my light comes on and disappears where his stays on until tank is filled back up again. So there is definitely and issue.

My tank is usually leveled, not much hills or slopes in Florida. I have had the light come on and disappear when I was driving in a straight line leveled.

Like Steve B said, I believe the sensor is in the back of the tank. So when low on fuel if you brake or accelerate fairly hard the shift in fuel will trip the sensor. I always reset trip 2 when I fill up and I consistently get 135+ miles out of a tank. I rarely even pay attention to the low fuel light anymore lol.

I will try to me smooth next time I ride to see if it works out. I also reset trip 2 every time I fill up, if I didn't I would not know when I would run out of gas. That's how bad my fuel light fluctuates on and off.

it happens to me all the time, it is really annoying. I also use the trip 2 to track how many miles I have left. Still

I think it's just the nature of these things. My car will do the same when driven aggressively with low fuel in the tank. Keep the bike full and it'll never be an issue LOL

Yup mind does it too, comes on about 3 times before it stays on. Doesn't really bother me too much you just have to ignore until it stays on permanently, then you have about 30-40 miles left.

After mine came on (and stayed on) I did 25miles and filled up to the top and got 15 litres in which meant I still had 2 litres left.

1 litre = 0.264172052 US gallons

How much are you putting in when your filling it up?
last time mine came on I think I put 2.9 gallons in and that was after driving 15 miles with light on.

Its supposed to trip at 5 litres but I think at 6 it gets tripped due to fuel sloshing around, then happens again at 5 1/2 etc. Then when the float (or however it measures it) cant go back up (ie 4.9l) then the light stays on. This is when I take the reading as gospel.

Not sure, I'll have to check during my next fill up. Because of my route to work, that's just typically the mileage that I fill it up.

Mine will come on for a few seconds and say "hello". It will then go away for 2 or 3 miles before coming back on until I fill up. I just consider it an ..... light, nothing more, and do not expect much accuracy.

What surprises me however is that Ducati can provide electronic suspension and a dash that could host video games but can not seem to provide us something more effective than an ..... light for a fuel indicator. How difficult would it be to have a little bar graph for a gas gauge?

Hi Guys...what I want to know is: When the fuel light turns on steady and Reserve trip meter kicks in...how many kilometers do we have before it runs dry?

My previous S1000RR had a Fuel reserve trip meter turn on and it was a kilometer countdown...showing: 55kms, 54kms, 53kms and so on. It was gving me the actual reading before I ran completely dry. That system is definitely better than the Panigale's.

Would any of you guys know how many Kilometers we have left on the fuel trip meter before it runs dry?

Thanks,
Miguel

It'll depend on how you ride, but I've done a max of 59 Kilometers on reserve and I let it run dry. It died 5 feet from my driveway completely empty :D Lucky for me I have a four stroke dirt bike so I had a 5 gallon jug full of premium to fill her up lol.

I routinely put in 3.9-4 gallons. Highest was 4.2 gallons.

My low fuel light does the same and it's no big deal to me. The only time it matters is when it stays light.

I read earlier in this forum that one or two people ran out after 27 miles post fuel light.
I have only gone to 22 miles and will try hard to avoid running out.

MarkM - I hope you meant 3.9 not 2.9 gallons.

Chris

LOL, I fully agree with you. I got home 5 minutes ago from a ride and I had the same problem. The light came on a few times, didn't really know how many miles or liters I had left. The light went away and came back 2 more times before I decided not to take any chances and fill her up.

I read somewhere that the cost is significant if done post design and minimal when designed and integrated at the beginning of bike design.
