2021 was near the same in MotoGP.

I don't follow AMA and BSB. I only have so much free time. Mostly MotoGP with some WSBK mixed in. Which WSBK seems to have the same 4 riders at the front of the pack, each on a different machine.

Quickly back to the topic. ;-)
I ordered the new GPS and wonder how or if I have to dial it in on my bike... any experience on that?

topics evolve....

this ones about GPS confusion ... not fitting it..;-)

You got me 🤣
Btw, of course I googled it and saw a kind of manual on how to dial it in... but that never seemed to be from a V4S but Streetfighters or other Ducatis.... thats why I wonder if the V4S needs that too.
Cause I also found threads where people say its plug and play...

Btw, I am really looking into the R1. 😎

I think it’s a bollox argument as with proper coaching and being more consistently accurate most will be quicker regardless of what they are riding !
Of course, but that’s not the point. A highly trained and skilled rider on a 600 will out ride a V4. But when you take riders of near the same skill level which platforms are more competitive start to become obvious.

@RickD996 and I were writing back and forth about that in an older thread. The gear learn procedure is more of a verification than a lesson. You will likely plug it in and have it work fine. To start the re-learn procedure you need some form of the dealer tool (DDS).

I’d think an update would be coming to the R1 before too long. That platform is pretty old.

Gotcha.
In terms of the R1, thats exactly what I heard to... apparently next year.
But the reason why I would buy an "old" R1 now is that its been on the market since 2015 and probably way more refined as any Ducati will ever be... so I would expect to buy it and never have to worry. :)

Nope still a red herring, apples and pears, compare bikes or compare riders, you can mix and as a result declare the other thing better!

I coach in high performance vehicles on a daily basis and regularly see all the gear and no idea in a gt3rs, as well as a surprisingly consistent and accurate driver in a 2.0 boxster …. Doesn’t make the boxster a better car than the gt3!

all the gear and no idea

lol! sums up a LOT of Ducatista...

All gear sports have this issue, but as Andy suggests there has to be a distinction between rider and bike. This is not a rider training/improvement board its a gear board that's all about making the equipment better.
Regarding the MotoGP, WSBK bike differences your talking minute fractions of differences in performance but its such a high level that it matters, for anyone else an R1 or ZX10 is every bit as good or even better than a V4R around a track.
