How many of you that man up on the heat issue...have purchased the cushy comfort or race seat?

Not sure if this was mentioned but when I went to my Ducati dealer the other day he let me know that the UP-Map mentioned in the recent Ducati email is the up-map I already received back in November 2012. :-(

That's what I told everyone- jury's still out if they believe that.

What are you going to call an old owner that gets the fix? BHF Convert? Are we still allowed on? I mean Christ, the glossy carbon guys are still on, that aint fair right there.

I'd call 'em a wimp! I know, I know. Now I know how those private country clubs, feel. But hell, we gotta put our foot down somewhere. But on the other hand, those Glossy-eyed guys just don't sit well with us Matte fellows..

Has it occurred to you folks that when you are riding the bike others can't even see that part of the engine that it covers up? Of course, I guess if you are just a "waxer" and don't really even ride the bike that much maybe you care more about what it looks like than how it rides.....:p

I just got off riding a few miles today and could feel the heat waves hitting my legs.. I have the DP Comfort seat though, maybe thats why my ass didn't feel the heat...

Yeah it's not my butt either (race seat), it got more uncomfortable after putting on the Termi headers.

To anyone who has ordered a 2013: if it comes with these parts and you don't want them, i'll take them off your hands and send you my 2012 header shield.

I don't mind the looks and I really want the heat to go away. I'll take some gorgeous pics of my exposed vertical cylinder head and frame them to my wall to stare at before covering them. :D

I mean it. Keep my number.

Everybody gets them plus a free install, so you will have your own to play with. (cough-wimp) :D

By the way, just to clear up some earlier posts of mine. I had stated my dealer said this was a brand new map. Turns out I was the idiot. The only upmap I received was for the termi pipes and I mistakenly thought it was the December upmap I had. So my dealer was not claiming this was a different brand new upmap, but new to me. So this whole time I thought I had the newest map and didn't. Depressing that I'm an idiot, but exciting to have a new mapping to upload. So I don't know if ther is any dispute that this mapping is the same one that's been out.

Hello
I've seen the new heat shield today at SwissMoto Show
on a 1199R in Switzerland.
It looks exactly like the picture earlier in this thread.
- pretty big, but not too bad in my opinion.
I will try it...

with this my mods for the Season 2013 are complete:
Heat shield
Softer springs
41 sprocket
Rizoma rear set
ceramic coating for the exhaust

You didn't take pics for your fellow members?

I'm really curious why Ducati felt the need for the extra cover by your calves. Especially with the head cover + the new heat shield which looks larger at the top + appears to be multi-layered. That's the thing that makes it so hideous.

I wonder if a mod of the new heat shield + cutting that whole area would result similar enough results.

As with any mass market manufacturer, Ducati has to make it met mass specs. Cutting that might yield only a 5 or 10 degree difference which would be acceptable to most of us.

IDK if the header heat covers are a good idea, both of my valve covers have sprung leaks, it'd tale even longer to ID them.
