IS THERE SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THE NEW FIREBLADE?

As you may already know, Guy Martin had a massive crash in yesterday's superbike race. In the video below, he reports hitting a false neutral. It's been suggested the same thing caused John McGuinness' huge NW200 crash where he lost a part of his leg bone on the track.

Let's get one thing straight - Guy Martin was NOT pushing when he crashed on Sunday. The practice times throughout the week never put him above 20th place so he clearly wasn't happy on the Honda. Then this happened.

Guy walked away with a bruised wrist, John McGuinness left part of his tibia lying on the track in Northern Ireland when the same thing happened to him. Everyone knows McGuinness isn't a crasher - his entire road racing career has resulted in just two crashes. Two.

SO WHAT'S GOING ON AT HONDA RACING CORPORATION?

A lack of testing time has blighted the team so far this year on the all-new Fireblade. John McGuinness even had another uncharacteristic crash at Castle Combe whilst testing the new machine.

Surprise surprise this crash was also whilst slowing for a corner, the same as the NW200 crash that almost took his life a couple of weeks ago.

Are there inherent problems with the new Fireblade race bikes?

The TT really isn't the place to find out the answer.

All kinds of issues with the electronics and gearbox it appears.

yes the new cbr is crap. except for mcn i believe who rated it number 1. there goes their cred unless it rates ducati number 1 then its all good.

Nicky (rip) said it need work. we all know how he is he would never bash the company.

honda took its sweet time and still didnt get it right. thank goodness for the r1 zx10r gsxr1000 1299.

Not good at all if guys are crashing due to bike issues. Sad that after all these years waiting for the new blade that it's still not up to par with the rest.

Not sure whats going on, but Stoner got hurt at Suzuka, plus John and Guy, couple that with Alonso's on going F1 debacle, and his HONDA blowing up at Indy with 10 to go. Something velly fishee at honda

I really really hoped that Honda produced something really cool but NOT $180,000.

Same thing with their cars. They suck.

IMO and a bit of a generalization but the magazines usually are harder on the Ducati because it is expensive , they tend to not really understand the Ltwin around a track, they tend to be ex-racers who don't gel well with a Ltwin, and lastly the mags are full of .... whores who sell to the highest bidder.

all that being said this bike is completely in line with all the stupid stuff Honda has been doing the past few years. Is the fire blade a new bike or is it the same bike as the 08 just pimped up enough to make it be called new?

either way this is 180˚ out of phase with the old honda from the 90's and early 00's.

the glory days of honda would have never put this slightly updated bike back on the market and tried to sell it as something spectacular . or the old honda would have been flawless maybe to a fault , but Honda used to be the king of making bikes so perfect they were almost seeming boring. now they are so boring they seem outdated on day one.

At the TT there was an interview with Guy and the team manager, the interviewer asks them if they are confident with the rebuilt bike (after Guy's crash), they looked at each other and reluctantly said yes. They did not sound enthusiastic or sincere.

Cheers

Yeah, I saw his interview and he was soooooo trying hard not to bash the bike, but still said enough. I am sure Honda Mfg. flipped their lids when they saw the post interview.

NOLA

I agree that interview was very bad for Honda. I hope they figure it out, we need more competition in WSBK.

Don't bite the hands that feeds you
He was being very economical with his words, it would be a sizeable meal ticket to punch out on.

Amen brother. With all Honda's MotoGP experience and general motorcycle and racing experience this is the best they could put together? LAME.

In this aspect, I have to give credit to company like Ducati and pushing other company to do same.

That's scary! I've had a similar ontrack incident but thankfully no wreck but almost got rear ended cause I had to keep the clutch in and brake so no hand to throw up. Going from 170mph downshifting from 6th to 4th...scary experience for sure.

Guy's last words about the bike not liking him or John says a lot. He really didn't say much at all but his face told the real story.
