How many of you have changed from the stock seat?

I purchased a racing seat and the seat is great for grip as I'm not smashing my nuts every time however if ur a shorty like me (170cm) then you will need to alter the seat height. I'm looking at ACM Seats for altering in AUS but check this link also for US Customising 201.

Can any of you who bought the race seat take a look at it for a second?
Does the fabric of your seat stretch a littlebit too far in the area were the seat arches up in the back (right below the Ducati sign) causing the fabric not to touch the padding underneath anymore?

My race seat, which I bought yesterday, does that.. No big deal at all. But after installation it bothered me a little.

Hope you can encypher what I'm talking about.

Yep,

There is a bit of a pocket where it arches up towards the rear. I'm hoping to get the seat altered with less foam as per my post or I will Neo-prone my stock seat for best fitment.

I like the shape of the stock seat but find it a bit too hard, the cover itself offers advantages/disadvantages depending on what you prefer (ease of moving/move too easily). What I don't like is unintentioanlly losing my position which seems to happen often. Picked up the Race seat yesterday but have yet to ride on it. Yes, so much more comfortable but I think I'm going to take it up to the upholsterer to have the foam cut down a bit to get some of that "in-bike" feel back.

Put first 80 mi on my Pani on the stock seat and realized it was the first item I needed to change.
Put on the DP comfort seat yesterday and went for a 100+ mi ride. Night and day difference.
Extra height doesn't bother me as I'm 6' and hadn't really gotten used to the stock seat. So changing to the comfort seat was a no-brainer. No issues with the seat now.

Sat on all three seats at the dealership before purchase. I went with the comfort seat but a few considerations.

I'm 5'8" and weigh 225 geared up.

Stock: Very slippery expect some moving around. Comfort wise it's ok didn't do too much on it. What I like is that out of the other three I am able to touch the ground better.

Comfort: Planted and felt no movement. Very comfortable and soft, would imagine it would hold up well for extended seat time. Tip toe-ing on both feet but can firmly plant one down if I have the other up.

Race: Planted and felt no movement. More comfortable than stock I'm sure some people would prefer it over comfort seat as their "comfort" choice. Tip toe-ing on both feet but can firmly plant one down if I have the other up. Not sure if this is just me but this one felt tallest, the comfort one looks taller but it sinks much more than the race one once you sit on it.

lots of good info.

the stock seat is useless other then looks. it provides zero grip and it's shape (as stated above) slams you into the tank (and not to beat a horse that's 10 foot below at this point...) puts your inner legs very close to the rear cylinder (which is where the majority of the heat issue comes from).

In my opinion:

this should be your 1st mod by far. I tried both the comfort and race seat.

-Comfort seat (for me and my posture and size) too high up and made it difficult for me to keep my weight on the pegs.

-With that, it also left me feeling "out of the bike" as apposed to "in" the bike (the only benefit to the low stock seat)

Race seat:

- This option changed the bike

- Tons of grip

- Perfect height for my inseam and just enough to keep you off the rear cylinder

- My favorite aspect of the seat is how flat it is in the back. it allows you have a real flat and stable platform to more around a bit more while retaining enough seat under your can

My choice was the race, but either seat (i feel) was what this bike was developed with.

it takes two seconds to swap the seat, so if you have the option to try both at your dealer, I couldn't encourage it more. either seat is worth every penny. hope this helps.

May I ask, How tall are you? and your leg size length i.e 30' 32'?

Thanks

dp race seat

I went with the DP race seat. The flatness and grip make riding much easier as not fighting to stay in place as with the stock seat. Also added race pegs at the same time to stop boots from moving around. Probably the first to things to change on these bikes.

Just picked up the DP race seat for myself

Really happy with it.

I feel it has plenty of padding already, and I'm glad I listened when other posters said the comfort seat would raise me alot and change the seating position

So I don't have a comparison to speak of, but I got no complaints with the Race seat either!

I'm happy with the stock seat, but I never change the seat on any of my bikes for whatever reason. That said, as on my streetfighter, and most of the modern ducs, they do tend to push your huevos into the tank.

I bought both the comfort seat then the race seat. Although the comfort seat was significantly more 'comfort'able than stock:

1) I was on my tip toes more than I wanted to be.
2) I felt like I was 'on top of' the bike. This created a lower back issue that after my first long ride of 140+ miles was annoying. It raised my butt up higher but the handlebars were obviously at the same height which forced more of a bend in the lower back and shoulder pressure too.

I then bought the race seat at the dealer with 10% discount and tried it out.

1) Much grippier thatn stock, same as comfort (but no red stitching which I liked on the comfort). Race has more overall grip on perimeter of seat vs. comfort but most may not use it.

2) Ride height is less than comfort but a bit more than stock.

I sold the comfort seat on eBay last week.

Not convinced on the race seat, did a track day with it last weekend and I think I actually prefer the stock seat. I like being able to shift around on the seat with ease, the race seat doesn't allow you to do that. Although the race seat is a big improvement on the road

Your butt shouldn't really be in contact with the seat when shifting from side to side, butt to each his own ;).

i'm trying to weigh up whether to change my seat. I'm not worried about heat or how comfortable it is, now that i'm spending more time on the track i find it quite slippery.

I realise this topic has been covered many times but thought i'd raise it again to see who has changed their seat and why?

If i do change it i'll go the dp race seat. I want to know who has changed to this seat and has also done some track work, is it worth the money or am i better off getting my stock seat recovered?

I don't want the comfort seat, as i'm over 6ft i don't want to place unnecessary pressure on my wrists. Have any of you found this is a problem?

The luimoto seat covers look smart when new but a friend of mine has one and it has started looking old in a short space of time, anyone have thoughts on this?

everyone has suka!

I have the comfort and race seats, both much better than stock. As would be expected I prefer the comfort seat for longer street rides. For the track and more aggressive street riding I prefer the race. It's literally a < 1 min swap so I just grab whatever I am in the mood for.
