How many of you have changed from the stock seat?

check out these custom race seats from Italy. I hate when websites tell me to call for price though. Makes me look elsewhere but these are real nice seats to set you apart with nice 1199 embroidery

DUCATI 1199 PANIGALE

Hi fmvolume,

I saw a link to this site on a German forum. The seats are supposed to be very good.
Regarding the price they recommended to view the Italian version of the site because the prices are shown directly.

The guy on the German forum had his own name and racing number instead of the 1199 stitched on the seat.

I ordered the DP race seat because I like the plain looks and it is good enough for me :)

Changed to the comfort seat after two or three rides! Huge improvement in looks and grip. Yes it has more padding, so taller ride height.

After holding out for about 6 months...I finally switched to Race seat.

Reason I held out is because of the height. I tip toe with stock seat, but its not too bad.

Where did you get this cover from?
Looks good, is it as grippy as the race/comfort seat?

I ordered the seat cover from Luimoto.com.

Thanks! It is less grippy than the Race seat but only in the very front/inner thigh area given the different material along the edges (see photo).

I'm basically the same as you, 5"8 with 30" inseam.

Did you try the comfort seat at all?

I'm wondering if it's possible to shave down the comfort seat for height. I prefer the look of the comfort seat but it sounds like the race seat is a better option for my height.

I'm in the same boat as you 5ft8in and I'm using the comfort seat. It is a pinch on the tall side but I can plant one foot firmly and two on tip toe almost planted. I think another good option for us non Nordic giants is to have stock set re-upholstered.

Yes, you could, the questions becomes whether or not the cover could be re-used (seat shape has been revised) with success. An upholstery professional should be able to answer that question.

Frosty,

I been riding on Race Seat and it is not bad as far as height goes. I can either do the One Foot Dani Pedrosa thing or two tip toe and balancing the bike.

BUT!!! Bigger issue I am finding out is the wrists pressure and little bit off COG.

I think if I shaved little bit, it will be perfect. I am actually thinking about getting the R seat when available and deal with little ass discomfort.

I'm also thinking about going that route as well, I know from antihero's comments it's a much better in terms of grip. The comfort seat definitely hurts the raised COG factor so I had to get creative.

I went with the comfort seat, transformed the ride. Less pressure on the wrists because I'm not pushing myself back all the time. I'm 6'2" so the extra height is a non issue for me. Coupled with new foot pegs I feel more attached to the bike. In my opinion, these are must do mods.

CORE STRENGTH!

Srsly though, when ever this feels like an issue I realize I'm not supporting my upper body with my lower as I should.

Me and my nuts love the comfort seat. My balls went on strike when I had the stock seat on. Haven't tried the race seat. Only thing I have to say about the comfort seat is that it does raise you up a bit on the bike. U either like it or not. But race or comfort is the way to go. Stock seat shouldn't even come with the bike. It's almost like a trick or marketing scheme to make more money off the customer.

I do really like the comfort of the Race Seat and I'm sure Comfort Seat is the same, but for me...I think "feeling" balanced is more important than even wrists pain. I would of course take a perfect seating position.

When I am leaning hard, I feel little off balance or really seem like I am on the top of the bike vs stock height seat. Did you get that feeling too?

Not really when I'm leaning hard one cheek is hanging off. But the ergos are why I don't track the bike. I wish the tank was taller for one.

The comfort seat is a better ride for long distant riding. Where I live we can hit the Hill Country or beter known as the Twisted Sisters or Three Sisters as some may call it. NIce curvy ride and your ass stays comfiortable during the long ride. Comfort seat all the way.

Got the comfort seat today. Looks great. So far I'm not so sure the confort is any better per say, not that I have noticed yet anyway. I'm 5'8 with 30" inseam and height is juuuuust ok. Little more difficult to push the bike around in a parking lot now.
