Thanks for all the kind words and PM's...
I was riding up in the Ozarks memorial day weekend... Hwy 7..out of Hot Springs..just in case anyone knows it...Anyway rode north for a few hours lunch then a quick run back to Hot Springs.... With a group of 4 we got split up due to traffic etc so I was riding alone moderate pace but nothing insane it had rained in the area we were in but wasnt raining roads were damp... Came round a turn cleared the turn and suddenly the rear end steps out and in a classic fashion regains grip with the rear end 90 degrees to the road...i.e. Highside... so there I am thinking "Oh crap" I am sliding down the road followed by my bike...Luckily as I was on a straight section I stay on the road (Rocks/Trees either side)..no one coming the other way I slide for many yards ...thinking to myself "this .... needs to end asap".. finally come to a stop..me one side of the road the bike on the other... Im there thinking I need to get up...I drag myself up... and get out of the road...A truck stops and asked 'are you ok?" I answer truthfully..I really do not know..I am hurting but mainly Im pissed shocked and many other negatives.. so then I start to do an inventory..Its obvious immediately I have snapped my collarbone...I have pains in my chest and I can taste blood...So now Im worriied...It takes the ambulance 30 mins to get to me... Anyway transpires I have 5 broken ribs and broken collarbone and a broken ankle and some "mild" road rash on my left elbow...
But it gets worse ..lol... overnight stay...they do tests and they hey you can go home..Yippee!! and just wash that elbow regularly etc etc... Well all is going well...or so I thought..but 2 weeks later my road rash is hurting abd my arm swellls up and I am thinking UH oH... Go to the ER They admit me there and then...seems I had a very serious staph infection which had penetrated the bone..So Im a mess lol... Had surgery performed to remove necrotic flesh (yummy ) and I now have a PICC line which is s semi permanent IV into which I have to inject antibiotics 2x daily... for another 4 weeks (6 in total)... so..there you have it...basically I am an ..... for crashing..totally my own fault...The infection situation sucks..but I will be fine and for me that's a good thing lol...
The lesson I have learned is that should you go down and have any road rash Please insist on a thorough examination of it and antibiotics from the get go...This Staph .... can be serious....
