No one is saying he can't dis our bike and hang out here, just curious, as am I, why would someone that doesn't care for an 1199, post on an specific 1199 forum? He certainly isn't going to convince we made a mistake in our purchase because of some new review. The bike is what it is, no review can change that
I don't think it is a problem, but I don't get it either. I will occasionally jump over to the S1000RR forum to read a couple things, but I don't post there. I guess I would if I were considering buying one and had a specific question that I couldn't find using search, but I wouldn't become an involved, participating member of the community. What's the point? I'm missing the one thing (an S1krr) that defines membership into the community.

My watch makes me 2 tenths faster @ COTA on the Panigale than the Bimmer
Must be a Ducati watch. Do you find that it also burns your arm and fogs under the crystal?

yea yanno it does also, I feel like it's melting around the clasp area.. the second hand stops working when it get that hot I think, but I haven't been able to re-create it for my jewele-- um, I mean, dealer.

I am very happy that you love your bike, and I apologize if I offended you in any way. I have loved Ducati's since child hood. I have owned nothing but Ducati's. And as you say there are not many people who can ride a superbike to it's potential, and I am not one of the lucky ones by far....But I do track my bikes(1198SP, 1199R) and I ride them fast. However, I also love to ride it to fivebucks sit there have a hot cup of tea on a Sunday morning and have people complement me on how bad ass my bikes look and we talk bikes and racing. Vanity? Maybe. Despite, respect it, do not criticize it for it was not a decision I made for you, I made it for myself for my high. There maybe be people who don't even track their bikes regardless of what make, so what? My friend has a 1198R and he's never tracked in his life so what? He also has a F458 Challenge Stradale he's never tracked so what?

P.S. Anyone know what the present deal is with WSBK and the restrictor issues on the Pani's? Last I heard they increased the diameter of the restrictors from 50mm to 52mm after Monza.

Agreed. I would say Rolex is on the low end of luxury watches. Honestly I'm into watches and don't know a thing about Rados lol. Oh well...

In a test down here between the HP 4 the RSV Factory and a Panigale S ( there was no R available), it was summed up like this...
" The Ducati 1199 polarised testers, but those that loved it, really loved it, as its a bike that offers more character than the other pair put together. For some, the character is why they ride, and this hot, red, angry Italian is the two wheeled caricature of what motorcycling looks to them, and sounds to them as well"
" Shy, mild and predicatble are not hallmarks of the rider who takes this beast home, it delivers on potency, when in the right hands and set up right, using the similar potency of its in built systems."
" the Panigale is a grumpy, noisy, incredibly involving bike to ride, which really appealed to the most experienced testers, the ones who loved the feeling of a bike that is akin to riding around with a huge neon " look at me!" sign floating above them."
" Liking the Panigale or not is such a subjective thing. It does have some flaws, but it also lays people's hair back like nothing else before it - and that is where subjectivity deserts the building and the devil jumping on your shoulder skewers Jiminy Cricket, and you fire the angry lump of red at the horizon with a grin on your face only your first conquest would recognise. The other bike reviews were all about the technicalities of the bike, and you can see from above what a Ducati does to seemingly normal men. Again you either want an efficient " tool" or something that moves your soul...your choice.

As much as I love the "Samurai of Slide", he is no longer the future of WSBK and his last few years were just collecting a paycheck.
I'm very impressed with what Loriz Baz is doing on the ZX-10R, would love to see him on the 2014 1199R F14. If Checa does decide to retire, then they should promote Niccolo Canepa from Superstock to SBK. He had a one-off ride already on the SBK 1199 at Donington and he finished as the first 1199, in front of both Checa and Badovini.
Plus have you seen Niccolo's on-board videos on YouTube? He's insanely talented - must have learned that from his days trying to tame the Ducati GP9:

Canepa is no joke. I watched him race in Donnington very impressive. During qualifying he actually placed first until Sykes ran the following lap. Sykes has a rediculously powerful bike I don't see how the four bangers can be allowed an output of 230+hp and the Ducs be restricted to 210-215. Atleast according to the commentary this is what's happenning...isn't it?

I have a neighbor that stops by if he sees me out. He's not a motorcycle guy, but like many of my friends tell me I think he lives vicariously through me. The first time he stopped and saw the Panigale in my garage I started it for him - in the garage mind you. He got a huge smile listening to it buck and hiss at us like a mad snake. Then I turned it off and started my Ninja 1000. Before laugh, the Ninja has a FULL Akrapovik exhaust with no cats. Even I had to laugh out loud at how lame it sounded after the Ducati.
By what accounts is the suspension not perfect on the HP4? Reviews rave about it.
