There are also things that are accepted as generalities based on an overwhelmingly large prefence from the public... for example, not everyone loves the way Ferraris look, but most auto-enthusiasts would put them as one of the best looking. Same with Ducati, most reviewers and the general biking community would say it's one of the best looking. Not so of the BMW. But to each their own. This is obviously a Ducati forum full of biased owners :)

I live in Philly. Tact ranks right up there with slim waistlines :) Itmis a matter of personal preferences. But the Shallow Hal went a bit over the top

Actually I said the dash + configuration options like EBC and finer tuning of TC interested me initially. But "character" + price + looks eliminated it.
 
I would have taken an HP4 over all other bikes out there if not for the pani.....so it's still a bike I like a lot!

Hell I would still happily take one if someone wants to give me some more money!

Sorry I didn't mean to ruffle your feathers, Let me clarify my Shallow Hal statement. The "Fat" meaning the HP4 is almost 40lbs heavier than the Pani. "Ugly" as in the headlights. And shallow Hal meaning you have to over look those two "not so good" qualities and appreciate what's really underneath. I like the HP4 its a bad ass bike no doubt and would i own one? hell yes, because I love all bikes and I'm not particularly brand loyal. I agree with you on the gauge cluster. The BMW should upgrade to a newer technology for the dash. After getting used to the Pani's cluster and going to my R1 or any other bike is like going through a time warp back in time although I never thought is was an issue before.

Nobody, and I mean absolutely nobody, has done anything but admire my s1ks. The motorcycle uninitiated do least a double take on seeing the BMW roundel and one guy said "I thought BMW only made old man bikes". Actually, it does. Even the German magazine Mottarad selected it the "Best Sport Motorcycle" with 41.2% of the vote, 20% more than runner-up S1000RR.
 
I mean what do you expect from Ducati forum? We are in Ducati forum because generally we like Ducati.

If are coming to a Ducati forum to justify/defend yourself of owning a BMW... Probably need to do that at the BMW forum and you'll get a better result.

Yes, I have tracked 1000rr.

Agreed. You wouldn't think you'd have to defend the 1199 being the better looking bike in a Ducati 1199 forum... General motorcycling forum or BMW forum ok, but not here
 
I think Kurishio, is kidding us surely?

I had a S1000RR for nearly 3 years, and I must say it was a fantastic bike, but the day I
got the Panigale, I never gave it a second thought. With the Panigale, nothing is convential, everthing is in your face and it pokes its finger in the eye of the manufacturers. It takes time to appreciate all its quirks. Every ride, no matter what you are doing is an adventure, and when you get a chance to wring its neck, it leaves you speechless.

The BMW was like a very efficient tool, the Ducati 1199 is like that crazy Italian girlfriend that you just can't seem to tame, but just can't get enough off. Brilliant I love it.

But as for looks go, he's kidding right? Have you sat and stared at this thing? It looks like something Bimota or some exotic Europen design house would have come out with not a main stream bike manufacturer. For that alone Ducati should be applauded, others, don't get it, so they try to justify their purchase.

With the Panigale, no justification is needed, just relax and enjoy the whole the experience. You will never be the same again.

Any debate on looks is as pointless as debates on religion or politics..I think the MV is dated and the Diavel is a poor bike (imo..I have had one) But if these bikes do it for you that's awesome....

Love the F3 but I'll never understand why they didn't include a passenger seat cowl with it.

I think i'd have to agree with Stw.
IMO the f4/f3 styling is dated now, but it's still very beautiful although next to the 1199 they look quite feminen with all the soft lines, edges and curves.
Where as the 1199 looks a bit more masculine in comparison.

Sounded good at the IOM TT. They did have an engine failure, but it is still in development for that event.

Anyone watch National Geographic Megafactories MV Agusta? They focus on the development and production of the F3. Good stuff.
