Loving my 2024 Ducati Multistrada V4RS

So I got my Multistrata RS back in April and I have about 800 miles on her so far and I’m absolutely in love with the bike. I also ride a V4R and a few other neat bikes, but I have to say the seating position in this thing is very comfortable and I can’t believe how nimble they’ve made it feel. The engine is way better than my street fighter. The smaller throttle bodies definitely made the difference in performance. There’s way more power throughout the entire rev range that the Street Fighter. The SF is better way up top but down low in my opinion had nothing. This girl starts pulling right out of the gate. Very happy with her so far.

The only issue I'm having with the bike is an oil pan leak. It went back to the dealer and they thought it was the side cover and now it turns out its the oil like I had thought.
 
Likely not needed due to the advantages of the V4 over a L twin.

I think this is due to three things, The smaller/lighter valves of the V4 allow way more radical cam profiles, that DVT stuff was expensive to make and it's inclusion would have forced the heads to be wider yet. I find no advantage to the V4 except for topend power. My 1198 gets off a corner harder (as far as that goes my 1098 does too).

it's interesting that you like the motor due to the smaller injectors but it's probably partially the mapping and the shorter first 3 gears too. Ducati claims a loss of 30 HP going to the smaller injectors (and probably smaller exhaust pipe diameter). Both would pick up the middle.

It’s actually smaller throttle bodies by about 5mm which brings up the air velocity a bunch. The injector size is the same. I installed the AKR full system and took out the baffles and used their map and she’s fantastic. Just got a BMC air filter and need to install that when I go through her for the winter.
 
Perhaps you or other owners can help me understand this bike better. I’ve considered buying one as my only, single bike. I will soon be letting go of a Panigale, which I’ve loved.

If I wanted a Multi, wouldn’t I want other variants which can accept a top case? I want something sporty so I think I’m getting a Hyper. The Multi RS can be used in that way but can be ridden much longer distances and has much more tech. But it’s still a bigger, heavier bike.

I’m fortunate to have some different bikes, I ride a 2023 V4R on the track and had a 2021 V4 Street fighter but traded it in for the RS. Also a ZX14, H2 and a 2022 1290 Super Duke R. Traded in the street fighter for the multi RS. I was looking for a fast touring bike to travel with and ride two up so I could slowly retire my ZX14. I went with the RS with the hard bags, full system AKR exhaust system and Garmin XT and it’s a freaking blast. I love the bike I find myself not riding the others enough. It’s not the V4R but honestly at 50 years old I don’t want to be that freaking uncomfortable lol. On the track she’s the best but on the road I love my RS. Power comfort and heated seats, grips and adapted cruise. Sold! lol as far as the top case mount I have a nice tail bag for short stuff but longer rides I put the side bags on and rock it. 😂😂

I have a 2015 DVT Multi and love it. After riding rockets, I was wondering how I would like the Multi. I love it! It is fast, but not 1199 fast. It pulls hard off the line, which I like. It doesn't really feel heavier. It wears its weight very well, it's the older Testastretta. And, I have removable hard saddlebags, a decent windshield, heated grips, and cruise control. It's still a Ducati, nothing like a Harley. Hope this helps.
 
Thanks, guys. I guess I’m concluding that it’s still a big touring bike. TOURING bike. And even if it’s very sporty, right now since I can only have a single bike, I wouldn’t choose a touring bike as that bike. Thank you!

I felt exactly the same way you feel now. It's an 'old man's' bike. I was going to put a deposit on a Multi V4 RS. I called my dealer but the sales guy was on vacation. So, I decided to go to a closer dealer just to sit on a V4 Multi since I had never sat on one before. I sat on the V4 Pikes Peak and was immediately surprised by how comfortable and light it felt for a 540 pound motorcycle. I bought the Pikes because I already had a Speciale in the garage, that I am keeping for now, and didn't need another Desmo engine bike. I have never ridden an RS but, in my opinion, the Pikes Peak is very close to the motorcycle that could do it all. It handles very well considering it size and weight, it's got gobs of torque, you could take it to the track as long as you remember that this is a 540 lb motorcycle and not a superbike, toss on some bags and go light grocery shopping and you can till do short, medium and long range touring. I left the oem exhaust on and got a ecu flash and couldn't be happier. All of my riding buddies have several motorcycles and they are almost always on their adventure or sport touring bikes when we ride. Some of them are expert track riders and their ADV bike do not slow them down. I would say that ride one and don't let the touring (old man's bike) moniker dissuade you.

I’d consider a PP over the regular touring except that I hate the paint scheme. This is entirely subjective, of course, and no insult intended to your bike. It’s just my own personal preference is not for the big “1” emblazoned on the side, etc.

If I could have an Arctic white PP, I’d consider it. Although for my intended use, I think the semi active suspension on the Touring would be best compared to the passive Ohlins on the PP.

If the dealer and I can agree on terms, I’m getting a Hyper 950 SP shortly!
 
You don't have to apologize for the Pikes color way. I didn't design it. LOL I do prefer the RS's paint scheme. I don't need the ti sub frame or the dry clutch. I wish that the RS was closer to $35k. I would have one in my garage. I had the original 2008 Hypermotard 1100 S. What a motorcycle! I traded it in on the 2015 Panigale R. The Hyper is the only bike that i regret selling.

When you're ready the ADV bikes will be waiting.

Who's flash did you get? I tried the Bren on my RS and it was a nightmare. I curranty have the AKR with the baffle removed and the ARK map and its pretty good.
