Yeah. I see your point. I'm going to do it most likely this winter. The only fun in crashing is the rebuild! Are you going with a stock paint scheme or something more wild?

i'm very happy with the Roche theme so i'll stick with ....

FFS ... found a pic of the fall in it's infancy... :) did hit the side of the kerb covered in car tire muck .. all other mistakes remain present :)

not very pleasant feeling looking at her... :(

she'll be ready by wednesday for Le Mans... and in full trim by mugello! :)

That is a freakin' awesome picture!

For sure have the camera(s) mounted for Mugello, I want to see and hear the R get to Vmax down the front straight.

Good that you're ok big guy :)

Other stuff can be fixed.

Glad you're resurrecting the Roche paint ;)

Koen, I am sorry to see this but you already calculated this in. Someday it happens. We both have experience with lowsides. Ha, ha. Ruskenhoek at Assen is my Waterloo. Glad you are okay.

Looking at the movie I think you can indeed improve your body position. You need to lean more towards your fictional mirrors. When you trailbrake slowly into the corner you can pump up the tire and therefore have more grip when leaning into a corner. Do a Race Academy course of two days. I got my racing license this way.

I am in the same boat as you as we don't need or want to push this bike to the max of his abilities. Having fun on the racetrack matters most.

You were flyin!! Eau Rouge must be awesome on that thing! Glad you're alright!

That was sick!!

Glad your bike and you are not too badly damaged. Though your repair bill looks expensive! In fact your bike has inspired me to stick with my original plan of building an 1199 SPS. My last project on a 1098S was well documented on my usual hangout (Ducati Superbikes). I have already started acquiring parts as the bike won't be here until April 2014, the idea being I won't have to wait around, as some parts take weeks to arrive or be made. I like the nod to past design, with the Roche paintwork. Mine will lean more towards the 916 SPS theme. Website will launch soon with much more info on it. Love what you have done to yours and hope you get it fixed soon. I don't know that my budget will ever stretch to some of the components you have, but to be honest they would be wasted on me, as I only ever ride on the road mostly. Any track days I have done have always been on IL4s and bone stockers at that. If you crash them, it doesn't cost you a second mortgage to get them repaired. Mine is more of a cosmetic exercise with a few tweaks to the suspension and engine and replacing Ducati budget constrained factory parts, with better quality components.

I stopped using sliders years ago. They only help in low speed crashes, if you are moving quick and wreck it's likely the sliders will cause the bike to flip.

@Kope999R - it looks like you are ok, for that I am VERY glad. I don't know if you are interested but I have been working with a CRT team to get the 1199R working well. Mine is EPIC. If you are interested in the data I can talk with you about it privately but I'm not giving it away. I had to pay for it so I will have to charge something BUT I can tell you exactly where you need to be to make it work GREAT! It's your choice. Hope all is well other wise...

Sorry to see you crashed your bike, not just its an "R", but because any crash sucks. Lost the front of my RC8 the same way, luckily no gravel which saved me from having more things to fix.

Thanks for posting the video, not having be able to track my R yet, it's nice to see how they look, and what setting people are using.

I am quite nervous about losing the tank on this bike. That and the triple tree/ column holding the engine and front end together freighten me the most.

But .... it! It's a race bike and if your not willing to ride it, why the .... buy it? Also if your not crashing your not trying~ kieth code.

Awesome shot!,

Sorry to see the crash, it takes some serious commitment and bravery to ride the R. Looking forward to more from you.

bravery ?? You must be kidding right. He is riding a motorbike, not walking the ground on ops in Afghanistan.

Kope glad to see you are okay and looks like not to much damage. Thanks for sharing the video.

I don't think anyone is comparing apple with pears here. I am confident Brad is perfectly capable of differentiating between the two, in so far as both require an element of bravery, but I accept that one carries a far greater risk than the other and admire anyone who is prepared to risk their life on active duty. Perhaps there is more of an element of skill in some pursuits than mere bravery alone.
