In the middle of the race KTM sends Binder a message that they're sending a map change for tire conservation. Is this possible? What BS. Put a cable throttle on the GP bikes. I wish WSB used the same camera crews and equipment as the GP's. Way better races.

well, hard to argue with whatever is happening in italian racing... good for him. finding someone who actually cares about the next generation is rare.

I was a supporting Rossi for a long time but even I would doubt that those are his primary motivations… I think it has more to do with beating the Spaniards 😂

I’m pretty sure they have rider selectable fuel/tire conservation maps that are pre programmed and that sending a map mid race is illegal?

They don't send maps to the bikes. They send messages to the rider telling him which map to select.

No one trains on GP machinery unless it’s a test or he/she is a test rider.

What are you on about mate?

Ya they throw away a GP motor every other weekend. The cost and engineering personal time would be crAzy.
Honda made the RC213V-S and the motor is good for a few thousand km. Marquez trains on one.

Not sure how/why any team wouldn't want to circumvent testing rules in any and all ways possible. Also, what are the penalties for violating said testing rules? Probably nothing apart from a slap on the wrist and a revamp of the rules. MSMA or Dorna aren't going to suspend or disqualify you. They barely have enough bikes on the grid to begin with.

Austria was dull, the sport is going in the wrong direction with aero. They keep banging on about the Michelin front tire, but it's a matter of physics and not quite as easy to just bring out a new tire as you might think, not only does it have to handle the extra aerodynamic loads. It also has to get rid of all that energy generated by braking from ridiculously high speeds, i.e. heat. Aero is a major contributing factor because there is so much more grip plus the bikes themselves, assuming 300 hp generate a huge amount of heat, especially in a group. I'm pretty sure that brembo require 355 mm discs as well, more heat! You can't escape Boyles law, Aleix was saying they were starting out at 1.5 bar on the front, after a couple of laps, it was at the right pressure, but by the end of the race, it was through the roof. I'm pretty sure that they are trying to enforce tyre pressure rules and the minimum on the front is 1.8 bar for 50% of the race, apparently for safety, but somehow it's okay to start out with a virtual flat tire!

The short version is that if you can get in front with clear air, you have a massive advantage. Brad Binder just gave up because every time he was following close his tire overheated.

rider controlled tyre pressure monitoring system to let air out as it goes up....amber light comes on you press a button it reduces the TP back down to the optimum operating pressure, returning the light back to green..

I don’t think they can ride or test on any of the GP and FIM certified tracks unless it’s an official test. They also only get six race engines for the whole season. They are inspected by the FIM and given some sort of seal that gets broke if they open it up. Now I suppose if they want to, the factory can build extra engines and use them at a non FIM track. But it’s not a race engine. And they don’t send new maps during a race. That’s not permitted. The rider has to select it from a list already in the ECU.

X-ray came out fine but they saw something and weren't sure if it was from a previous injury so they sent him for a CAT scan. A brutal crash for sure.

On a side note, Dorna has to quit with the spoilers and time their content better. I have the spoiler-free Videopass bookmark saved, and it's how I get to the site. This morning I had a YouTube notification which has a picture of the three podium winners and captions about Pecco. So then I go to the Videopass site and the race isn't even posted yet.

Michael Pirro is in for the next 4 races on the Factory team. He's fun to watch for a lap or two. ;P
He's kicking ass in the CIV races, I hope he can do better in the GP races. He's getting some good experience in.
